is a strong anthem that challenges the church
to find her unity and calling. The chorus brings

as this piece develops, and the final chorus
sings like a sacred concerto with piano and choir
proclaiming confidence in Christ. Some vocal
divisi allows larger groups to fully engage, while
the thoughtful part-writing and ranges encourage
smaller ensembles.

commissioned by the owners of the Norfolk Wherry
yacht White Moth to celebrate the centenary of
its construction. It was premiered in July 2015 at
Ranworth Church, Norfolk, U.K. with the Wherry

specially by Patrick's brother Andrew Hawes
which are full of soft and colourful imagery and
depict the quiet majesty of the River Bure as well
as the graceful character of the wherry itself. The
transparent string writing together with the flowing
harp figurations create a watery sound world.
