Pat Metheny is known for his beautiful melodies, and Back in Time is no exception. Featuring a flugelhorn or trumpet soloist throughout on a written-out solo with chords included for improvisation, this arrangement is very playable by the ensemble with its moderate ranges. Originally recorded on the reissued Secret Story CD, this arrangement is a great addition to Bob Curnow's continuing reflection on Metheny's music. Beautiful melody, beautiful chart! 10368493 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 55.00 Bye, Bye Blackbird—arr. Dave Rivello. Arranger Dave Rivello arranged this great tune in a nice and easy, relaxed, swing genre to showcase the 2nd trumpet in the style of Miles Davis. Featuring the trademark Miles' harmon mute sound throughout the chart, Dave provides a written (or ad lib) solo, tasty backgrounds and a very hip shout chorus for medium level players. The arrangement is sensitive to the quietness of the harmon muted trumpet sound. Feature your young trumpet star on this one and have a "cool" moment in your concert! Highly recommended! 2480779 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 52.00 The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)—arr. Mark Taylor. One of the most iconic holiday tunes of all time, The Christmas Song as composed by Mel Torme and Robert Wells is treated here in a masterfully constructed setting featuring a flugelhorn soloist. In a traditional ballad style, this arrangement features tasteful accompaniment figures, creative harmonies, and brief interludes of double-time swing in the solo section. 10617888 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . The flugelhorn solo range is up to an optional written high C, but the solo is cued on the 1st tenor part as well. Victor's arrangement brings this contemporary gem within the range of the developing trumpet player without losing any of the hip appeal of the original. Here's a perennially appealing, samba/rock chart that will provide outstanding performance opportunities for your band and soloist! Highly recommended! 2480787 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . .
