Tchaikov- sky/arr. Douglas E. Wagner. Russian Romant- icism reached its peak with the music of Tchaikovsky, as the three excerpts included in this uncomplicated arrangement will attest to: Symphony No. 4, Mvt. IV, The Nutcracker Suite (Overture), and 1812 Overture. Younger players will enjoy mastering this music, which has been richly scored to make even the smallest ensemble sound great. There are many teachable moments in this arrangement, including the development of full, confident bowing, awareness of dynamic contrast, and contouring of phrases. Fun to play, and an almost guaranteed hit with any audience! 10872166 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 46.00 10872167 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 8.00 m e d i u m He The Abduction from the Seraglio (Over- ture)—W.A. Mozart/arr. Jamin Hoffman. From the comic opera filled with pirates, Turkish princes, kidnapping and daring rescues, Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio is the piece of music that generated the (possibly fictional) "too many notes" story. It is written in the Turkish "janissary" style, a style of music that fascinated Europe at the time. In this arrangement, the right hand of the piano is frequently written 8va to help re-create the piccolo that figured prominently in the original. 10185412 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 10185413 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 4e Allegro Spiritoso from Symphony No. 32— W.A. Mozart/arr. Francis J. Caravella. Written in 1779 after his return from Paris, Mozart's lively Symphony No. 32 loosely follows the form of an Italian overture. Cleverly arranged here without the slow andante section, this energetic work offers students an authentic, playable experience with a great piece of classical repertoire. 10846048 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 10846049 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 7.00 l Artist March—Felix Mendelssohn/arr. Lynne Latham. Here is the perfect alternative for Pomp and Circumstance. It is much easier on the orchestra and everyone plays the melody. All parts shift and use chromatic fingerings, and there is great opportunity to work on dotted rhythms and hooked bowings. The ample number of repeats allows for great flexibility during graduations or other processionals. Optional timpani. 10882297 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 40.00 10882298 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 6.00 4e Concerto Grosso in D Major (for Soloists and String Orchestra)—G.P. Telemann/arr. Robert D. McCashin. Showcase your strong players in this arrangement that features solo quartet passages throughout. The music is exciting and engaging without overtaxing the rest of the ensemble, yet everyone remains involved. This is pure Telemann, sure to delight your audience. 10877033 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 10877034 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 e Concerto Grosso Op. 6, No. 8 (Christmas Concerto)—Arcangelo Corelli/arr. Todd Parrish. Subtitled Fatto per la notte di Natale, or "made for the night of Christmas," Corelli's Christmas Concerto stands as one of the finest concerti grossi of the Baroque era. All solo parts have been incorporated into a string orchestra version that retains the original key signatures. This collection contains three of the movements in fast, slow, fast format. 10594937 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 56.00 10594938 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 9.00 e Danse Macabre—Camille Saint-Saens/arr. Carrie Lane Gruselle. Brahms captures the fire and passion of Romanian culture in these folk songs set to dance styles. Intensity and drama is created with dynamic exaggeration, abrupt tempo changes, and contrasting bow styles. An excellent way to encourage students to listen and watch the conductor as they engage with all the wonderfully rich sections of the piece. 10877043 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 10877044 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 4e La Rejouissance, Sarabande, and Gigue (from Suite TWV 55: D8)—G.P. Telemann/arr. Robert D. McCashin. These three movements: La Rejouissance, Sarabande, and Gigue, are taken from Telemann's seven movement Suite in D, originally composed for trumpet and orchestra. An excellent introduction to late Baroque style playing for intermediate students, featuring contrasting tempos, dotted rhythms, and compound time signatures in playable first position. Carrie Lane Gruselle. The Thieving Magpie is one of Rossini's most memorable and exciting opera overtures. After an aggressive and militaristic introduction comes the drama and intrigue surrounding a story centered on the theft of a silver spoon! Students will explore a full range of expression and bow strokes in this expertly orchestrated arrangement. 10877051 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 10877052 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 l Petrushka—Igor Stravinski/arr. Andrew H. Dabczynski. The genius of Stravinsky is available to young string players in this arrangement of Petrushka. This arrangement of excerpts from the masterpiece ballet introduces the orchestra to 20th century music with mixed meters and strident harmonies in a challenging, but playable and logical context. The powerful sound of this classic is guaranteed to engage students and impress audiences. 10872129 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 56.00 10872130 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 10.00 4 Rosamunde Overture (D. 644)—Franz Schubert/arr. Frank J. Halferty. This Schubert classic has been skillfully adapted to ensure all of the dramatic dynamic shifts and moments of sudden explosive emphasis are retained. Deborah Baker Monday. This spectacular transcription offers string orchestras an alternative to Holst's "St. Paul's Suite." Based on his "Second Suite for Band", this version features Song of the Blacksmith and Dargason. Written in the key of G Major, the final movement will prove to be less difficult than St. Paul's Suite yet still has the excitement and energy of the original! 10877059 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 65.00 10877060 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00 4 Serenade for Strings, Op. 22 (Second Move- ment)—Antonin Dvorak/arr. Jim Palmer. A wonderful string orchestra arrangement of Choral and Allegro maestoso from Felix Mendelssohn's great masterwork "Symphony No. 5." The string parts are similar to the original score and will create a beautiful symphonic sound. A great festival choice or dynamic closer for any concert! 10872151 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 56.00 10872152 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 10.00 l Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67—Ludwig van Beethoven/arr. Michael Hopkins. The heroic second movement of Beethoven's "Fifth Symphony" is full of themes and variations. In this accessible arrangement, the original key of A-flat major has been changed to C major, and the original time signature of 3/8 has been changed to 3/4 meter. But Beethoven's original dynamic markings and harmonies have been preserved - this movement is an excellent piece for teaching legato, hooked, martele, and spiccato bowings. Students can work on bow distribution, dynamic contrast, and phrasing as they perform one of the great masterpieces of the Classical era. 10872153 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 59.00 10872154 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . 10.00 4 Symphony No. 7 in D Minor (Third Move- ment)—Antonin Dvorak/arr. Todd Parrish. Though not as well known as his famous eighth and ninth symphonies, Dvorak's "Symphony No. 7" is a masterpiece worthy of serious study and per- formance. The Scherzo movement has been abridged and simplified from 6/4 to 6/8 for playability, but the spirit of Dvorak comes through clearly. Full of the composer's trademark hemiola, this arrangement gives melody and countermelodies to all parts and ends with an exciting, powerful conclusion. The optional timpani part gives even more strength to your performance. 10872155 String Orchestra, Percussion Opt. . . . . . . . . . . . . 49.00 10872156 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 9.00 4e Themes from "American Quartet" (Move- ment 1)—Antonin Dvorak/arr. Jamin Hoffman. Composed shortly after his iconic "New World" symphony, Dvorak's "American Quartet" reflects the composer's fondness for America acquired during his tenure in New York and vacation in Iowa. Featuring pentatonic scales and American folk-like melodies, the quartet has emerged as Dvorak's most popular chamber work. 10762228 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 10762233 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 5.00
