Trumpet and alto sax carry the melody at first before passing it off to the brass with the saxophones cleverly inserting punctuations. The saxes take the melody the third time around while the brass sections offer incisive interjections. An open solo section follows which features subtle backgrounds that enhance the proceedings without getting in the way. Anyone can improvise, and suggested solos are included for alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, and trombone. A swinging ensemble follows the solos, starting at a simmer and gradually heating up to an exciting full- ensemble shout chorus. All this, and it's playable with optional reduced instrumentation.
