This carefree yet majestic-sounding work was likely written to be enjoyed at an evening party in Vienna. It's been arranged with optional timpani to be played seamlessly by a traditional string orchestra. It's a great piece to refine the brush stroke and introduce light classical playing. 10500812 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .45.00 10500813 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .6.00 Sleepers Wake—J.S. Bach/arr. Jerry Brubaker. The familiar Johann Sebastian Bach melody will be loved by one and all. Solidly scored for your string or full orchestra, the delicate melody will reinforce the musicianship of the entire ensemble. 2478060 String or Full Orchestra . . . . . .65.00 Songs Without Words (I'll Love My Love)— Gustav Holst/arr. Christina Hans. The hauntingly beautiful English folk song I'll Love My Love tells the story of a young lady who is grief stricken after her true love is sent off to sea. Based on the second movement of Holst's "Second Suite in F" for military band, this arrangement is excellent for teaching phrasing and expression, and is a wonderful contribution to the repertoire for string orchestras! Highly recommended! 10280122 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .48.00 10280123 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .7.00 The Sorcerer's Apprentice—Paul Dukas/arr. Andrew Balent. Here it is! The only selection to be featured in the original "Fantasia" film and sixty years later in "Fantasia 2000!" Now it is arranged in a version your students can play. Playable by string orchestra or full orchestra, this arrangement avoids much of the introductory material to get right into the most familiar parts. An orchestra classic! 2472121 String or Full Orchestra . . . . . .65.00 Swan Lake—P.I. Tchaikovsky/arr. Michael Hopkins. This unabridged arrangement remains very true to the original while making this beautiful music playable by string orchestra. The key has been changed from B minor to E minor so all parts remain in first position. This is a great piece for teaching legato and tremolo bowing, expressive phrasing, triplet rhythms, accelerando and ritardando. A stirring arrangement! 10305939 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .49.00 10305940 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .6.00 Symphony No. 1—Ludwig van Beethoven/ arr. Christina Hans. Add the thrill and energy of Beethoven to your next concert without having to shift! This simplified setting offers many learning opportunities, including dynamics, bowing style, dotted notes, accents and sixteenth notes. 10453635 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .49.00 10453683 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .7.00 Symphony No. 6 (First Movement)—Ludwig van Beethoven/arr. Robert D. McCashin. In Beethoven's words, the Pastoral symphony is more an expression of feeling than painting... pleasant feelings which awaken in men on arriving in the countryside.” A perfect introduction to Beethoven's major works, the music is exquisitely orchestrated to retain the true nature of the original masterpiece while remaining playable by intermediate students. 10877067 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .60.00 10877068 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 l Tales from the Vienna Woods—Johann Strauss II/ arr. Robert Longfield. An arrangement of this famous waltz by the "Waltz King," for string orchestra. A bright selection for your next concert! 11100420 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .51.00 11100421 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . .12.00 Theme from Symphony No. 1, Mvt. 3—Gustav Mahler/arr. Brad Pfeil. This versatile arrangement is a great showcase for your bass players and also provides an optional harp feature. The famous opening solo can be played in first position or thumb position and as a bass solo or soli with an optional timpani part. While mostly in first position, this piece offers great opportunities for all instruments to explore higher positions. Students will love the simplicity of Mahler's haunting melody, while being challenged to maintain a slow, steady tempo. 10304743 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .59.00 10304744 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . .10.00 H William Tell Overture (Finale)—Rossini/arr. Sandra Dackow. One of the most famous of all overtures, thanks in part to its use as a TV theme. While somewhat challenging, there are optional easy string and percussion parts included that make this a very useful edition. What a concert opener this would make! 2172062 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .70.00 Classical Selections Medium H The Abduction from the Seraglio (Overture)— W.A. Mozart/arr. Jamin Hoffman. From the comic opera filled with pirates, Turkish princes, kidnapping and daring rescues, Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio is the piece of music that generated the (possibly fictional) "too many notes" story. It is written in the Turkish "janissary" style, a style of music that fascinated Europe at the time. In this arrangement, the right hand of the piano is frequently written 8va to help re-create the piccolo that figured prominently in the original. 10185412 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .45.00 10185413 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 Adagio—Thomaso Albinoni/arr. Jamin Hoffman. Finally, an arrangement of Albinoni's most famous work that can be played at your group's level. This achingly beautiful music is certainly one of the high points of all Baroque music. Give your strings a chance to play this one! 2481828 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .45.00 10004522 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 Adagio—Saint-Saens/arr. Emile Bernard & Joseph Goodwin. This movement from the popular symphony is filled with the composer's unique harmonies that move slowly but inevitably to the final cadence. There are some brief solos throughout the orchestra as well as divisi passages in the cellos and basses. 10523532 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .32.00 10523533 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 H Allegretto (from "The Creatures of Prometheus") —Ludwig van Beethoven/arr. Rick England. Absolutely perfect for cross-curricular study in middle school or high school! Prometheus, through trickery, stole fire from Zeus, gave it to mortals and was punished daily for eternity for his crime. Beethoven's melody itself has a bit of trickery and a good deal of moxy as it weaves through each section of the orchestra. The story and Beethoven's marvelous music will provide good discussion among the players and even your audience. 10280397 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .49.00 10280398 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .7.00 Allegretto Grazioso—Antonin Dvorak/arr. Robert Sieving. Here's the 3rd movement from "Symphony #8," one of Dvorak's most famous works and it certainly carries his penchant for memorable melodies! Allegretto Grazioso, is actually based on a song from an earlier opera, and the coda in a faster tempo recalls the Slavonic Dances. These infectiously joyous melodies will be loved by students and audiences alike. 10015096 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .56.00 10015097 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .7.00 Allegro—Sigr. Anderssen/arr. Robert D. McCashin. This wonderful Baroque work by Swedish composer Anderssen is full of energy and harmonic excitement. This arrangement reduces some of the technical demands without compromising the artistic integrity of the original. 10512552 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .55.00 10512553 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 Allegro Barbaro—Bela Bartok/arr. Bob Lipton. Intense, driving rhythms, pounding ostinatos and Eastern European influences mark this string orchestra arrangement of Bartok's famous piano piece. Your students will thrive on the energy and unique sounds of music by a twentieth century master. Harmonically complex and extremely compelling - once you listen to this, you'll be hooked! 10366783 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .55.00 10366785 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 Allegro from Jupiter—W.A. Mozart/arr. John Caponegro. Containing selected themes from the first movement of Symphony No. 41, this Grade 4 arrangement of Mozart's last symphony clearly shows his brilliance. Mozart's adventurous approach to the material paves the way for Beethoven and other symphonic composers to follow. 10752480 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .56.00 10752481 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .6.00 Allegro from Serenade No. 1 in D—W.A. Mozart/ arr. Robert D. McCashin. This delightful Serenade in D was completed in 1769, when Mozart was a mere 13 years of age (an ideal fact to share with young students)! The first movement, even though composed at such a young age, provides challenges for every musician in the ensemble and is musically appealing to players and audience. 10752880 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .60.00 10752881 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 Allegro (from "Sinfonia No. 6 in G Minor")— J.C. Bach/arr. Robert D. McCashin. Ideal for a concert opener or closer, this energetic work features strong rhythms and vibrant harmonies while the true genius of Johann Christian Bach shines through. Conductors have the freedom to choose a tempo that fits their ensemble without losing the work's engaging nature. Certain to be a favorite with performers and audiences! 10366786 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .55.00 10366787 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 H Allegro in D—Vivaldi/arr. Steven Frackenpohl. In this fine arrangement of Vivaldi's "Concerto in C for Two Trumpets," the solo trumpet lines have been transferred to first and second violins. It's a stirring adaptation which retains the characteristic "trumpet" sound of the original, and a delightful concert selection for string orchestra! Recorded by Michigan State University Orchestra on the CD, Teaching Music Through Performance in Orchestra, Volume 1 - Pepper # 5973728. 2276202 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .35.00 Allegro Spiritoso from Symphony No. 32— W.A. Mozart/arr. Francis J. Caravella. Written in 1779 after his return from Paris, Mozart's lively Symphony No. 32 loosely follows the form of an Italian overture. Cleverly arranged here without the slow andante section, this energetic work offers students an authentic, playable experience with a great piece of classical repertoire. 10846048 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .52.00 10846049 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .7.00 America (from "West Side Story")—Leonard Bernstein/arr. Gregg A. Porter. A vibrant work of intriguing melodies and harmonies from Saint-Saens' opera that will give your 1st violins a good workout! A great choice for concert or festival performance! 2382349 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .48.00 5607130 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .6.00 The Banks of Green Willow—George Butterworth/ arr. Robert Longfield. The best-known piece of the young composer George Butterworth is a pastoral setting based on two English folk-song melodies, The Banks of Green Willow and Green Bushes, and is similar to the compositional approach of Holst, Vaughan Williams, and Grainger. This arrangement captures the beauty and grace of one of the most admired orchestral works from the early 20th century. 10628852 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .50.00 10628853 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 The Barber of Seville—Gioachino Rossini/ arr.
