2 Foreword For over 400 years Old Testament Israel endured the pain and misery of living in Egyptian bondage. But God raised up a leader – Moses – to deliver them to a life of hope and freedom; a Promised Land. But before their deliverance, they were to share in a Passover meal in which the blood of the Passover lamb was to be placed over the doorframes of their homes. is would protect them from the judgment that God was bringing upon those who had rejected Him. Fast forward several hundred years, and we find Jesus gathered with His closest followers in an upper room observing the Passover feast as they recall the miraculous and historic Passover experience of their ancestors. On this sacred night, though, they are witnessing a foretelling of what in a manner of a few short hours will become reality: Jesus will become their sacrificial Lamb. Worthy Is the Lamb! is the compelling story of God's plan to deliver all people from the clutches of sin and death. It is the dramatic narrative that reminds us that He who knew no sin took on the sin and darkness of this world so that we might one day experience eternal life in a "promised land" where there is no pain or sorrow. is is a telling reminder that Isaiah's prophetic words were fulfilled in Jesus: Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. He was pierced for our transgressions; crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and by His wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5) Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, we who believe shall one day join the heavenly hosts in a never-ending hymn of praise: Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" (Revelation 5:12) Indeed, Jesus, the sacrificial Lamb of God is worthy of our praise!
