2 55/1200&01L-2 Foreword Once Upon a Morning is a delightfully creative and vivid musical telling of the days following Christ's resurrection, depicting the instances when Jesus appeared to the disciples. The opening and title song, Once Upon a Morning, tells of the discovery of the empty tomb and introduces a musical theme that reoccurs throughout the work followed by the rhythmically charged Why Do You Seek the Living Among the Dead?, followed by the smooth ballad, Didn't Our Hearts Burn Within Us. In Thomas Believes, Pepper uses two soloists (Jesus and Thomas) to depict the scriptural passage in John 20 before segueing into Blessed Are Ones Who Believe which is based on John 20:29, followed by Cast Your Nets, a cinematic and conversational representation of the disciples' fishing trip depicted in John 21. The work continues with Do You Love Me? based on John 21:15-19 and He Is Lifted Up an energetic piece of Christ's ascension before culminating into the exciting finale, Day of Pentecost, which includes the opportunity for congregational participation incorporating easter hymn. From start to finish, Pepper Choplin's creative spark shines throughout in this unique storybook-like work spanning from Easter through Pentecost. The narration for this work is based primarily on direct scripture passages and is intended to be recited by different narrators for each passage although it can also be recited by a single narrator throughout. We hope your choir and your congregation enjoy this musical telling of key events following Christ's resurrection. - The Publisher For Preview Only
