Foreword Somehow we have been conditioned to believe that important things happen only at important times, to important people, and only in important places. O nl y This leaves most of the people in the world left out, because few of us are "important," or live in "important" places. Few of us are celebrities, kings, or rich. Most of us live, work and go to school in fairly "regular" surroundings. And as we're finishing our day and putting our heads on our pillows, many more people are just going to work. vi ew Policemen, waitresses and others like them work all night and the rest of the world gives them little thought. Can there be a more forgotten time or group than the "night shift?" In truth though, God has gone to great lengths to show the world that His heart is with those the world has forgotten—or never knew existed. Fo rP re When it came time for the Savior of mankind to arrive—arguably the greatest moment in the history of the world—He arrived late at night and was announced only to a group of night-shift workers—humble shepherds. And where did Jesus take His first breath on earth? A palace? No. He arrived in the forgotten, conquered region of Judea, in possibly the most humble village in that place: Bethlehem. And He was born in in the most humble place in that village: a stable. If "important" people come to see your performance—great! But remember, it was to simple, unimpressive, "regular" night-shift people that the angels appeared to announce "good news of great joy for all the people!" And, it will be all the "regular" people in your audience who get to hear you do the same thing when you perform The Night Shift Before Christmas! That means you are doing something very important. God bless you as you plan and rehearse and perform, Steve Moore
