Lyrical and melodic, this chart is a sure-fire crowd pleaser impeccably arranged by Alan Baylock! In 1977 Stevie Wonder was in his prime and Sir Duke was on top of the charts. Michael Philip Mossman takes this familiar hit and adds his own unique touch. The opening features the brass with sax section fills. The middle section goes into a double-time swing and includes a solo for tenor sax, a soli for the saxes, and a drum break. All the familiar lines from the original are there too! Suggested solos are included along with scale/chord sheets in all keys. It includes feature spots for every section and optional written or improvised solos for trumpet and trombone. This accessible chart maintains an authentic sound even in this easy version. It will even sound full and complete with only 4 saxes, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones and rhythm! Also included are optional parts for flute, 2 clarinets, horn in F and tuba. Whether you know this one as C-Jam Blues or Duke's Place, you sure will recognize all the great Ellington writing! Even the most inexperienced bands can do a fine performance on this jazz classic. The suggested solos are included in the parts for the entire section, so you can make it a soli feature if you prefer. There's a marvelous ensemble tutti section that starts softly then builds to the end. 2470818 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . VE 40.00 H Caravan—Duke Ellington/arr. Michael Sweeney. Everyone will recognize this Duke Ellington classic! It was one of the featured works in the 2014 movie "Whiplash" and uses interesting textures and alternates between a Latin groove and swing.
