B ADULT COMMUNITY CHOIR Go to cart L A Hoopla (from The Settling Years)—Libby Larsen. From a three-part collection based on poetry by American pioneers, this third piece depicts a barn dance as vocalists circle 'round the instruments, stomp, clap, and perform with general abandon and boisterous vigor. 11197396 SATB. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . M 2.80 D Agnus Dei (from MASS)—Rollo Dilworth. With a slow gospel groove, this accessible concert work sets the traditional Latin text with full, rich harmonies in a slow 6/8. The piano accompaniment supports the harmonic motion while adding to the gospel flavor of this engaging selection. 11203403 SATB. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . This a cappella setting of words of assurance from the English mystic Julian of Norwich is as relevant today as ever. Sustained, independent vocal lines create lovely harmonies, and the powerful lyrics make this an optimistic song of hope appropriate throughout the year. 11195038 SSAATTBB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . M 2.25 e All will be well—Will Todd. With a text by the composer, this is a beautiful piece about optimism, companionship, and the belief that 'all will be well'. Todd's gentle melodies are supported by a delicate, pulsing piano accompaniment, and an optional percussion part (snare drum, bass drum, and cymbal) that adds extra sparkle to the music. 11315638 SAB (opt. Bass) ME 3.25 11315639E SA ePrint. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ME 3.25 t Alleluia—Elaine Hagenberg. This joyous and rhythmic a cappella setting of St. Augustine's text in a buoyant 7/8 meter is brimming with vitality and energy. The contrasting middle section offers expansive lines and lush harmonies which propel the music into exciting key changes and a climactic ending. A wonderful opening selection for more advanced mixed choirs! 11196226 SATB divisi . . . . . . . . . . . . . MA 2.50 t Alleluia—Kile Smith. The ebb and flow of the choral parts create a wonderfully fluid sound, and the lovely, flowing vocal lines intertwine and overlap as they build toward the climax and then to a peaceful ending. Simply beautiful. 11171318 SATB. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ME 2.25 D Always a Place for You—Philip Silvey. Powerful lyrics by the composer tell the story of acceptance and belonging. Melodic with contemporary harmonies, this is perfect in a themed concert addressing people's joys and concerns. 11175406 SATB. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ME 2.25 And So I Sing—Christi Jones. This poignant setting of a powerful text by James Weldon Johnson, African-American poet and national organizer for the NAACP, reflects on the reasons we sing. Opening with an optional violin solo and enhanced by a flowing piano part, the piece begins as a slow, pulsing ballad in minor which transitions to a major key, upbeat ending. 11197775 SSA. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ME 2.25 te As the rain hides the stars—Ian Assersohn. This setting of a traditional Gaelic prayer is poignant and heartfelt, with sustained lines and a full, rich choral sound. Gentle shifts in harmony between various combinations of voices and the use of unexpected chromatic chords imitate the slow movement of the clouds, rain, and mist, and reveal something once hidden. 11315640 SATB. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . M 3.00 Lt As the Tree Stands Tall—Daniel Schreiner. With a theme of unity and standing together, this exceptional work will have special appeal to treble ensembles as well as multigenerational choirs. 11190446 SSAA with djembe . . . . . . . . M 2.15 Astronomy (Movement V from "To Shiver the Sky")—Christopher Tin. To Shiver the Sky is an oratorio about the history of flight and mankind's quest to conquer the heavens. Told through the words of 11 of our greatest astronomers, inventors, visionaries, and pilots, it charts our relentless need to explore the universe, defy our earthly bonds, reach for the face of God, and ultimately claim our place among the stars. This is the fifth movement from the larger work, with lyrics in Polish. 11314281 SSATBB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . M 2.75 Ave Regina Caelorum—Isabella Leonarda/arr. Meredith Bowen. Isabella Leonarda was one of the most prolific woman composers of 17th-century Italy, publishing 20 volumes during her lifetime including the first known sonatas written by a woman. This edition seeks to restore the music from the original published copy for an authentic performance. The optional cello/continuo part is a lovely addition. 11196236 SSA w/ Cello Part. . . . . . . . . M 2.25 t Beethoven's a Cappella 5th—Ludwig van Beet- hoven/arr. Jay Rouse. Here's a novelty piece that will steal the show! Beethoven's Fifth Symphony is set for a cappella voices with some creative vocables, style, and a touch of humor. The TTTBB arrangement is the actual arrangement of the Veritas a cappella quintet, and the mixed version is a faithful adaptation. A perfect change of pace that is moderately challenging and rewarding! 11175610 SSATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . M 2.25 11175611 TTBB divisi (TTTBB) . . . . . . .
