Recorder Fiesta—Susan Bauer. This book is a revolutionary
approach to teaching the recorder. Not only is it a bilingual
recorder method (with Spanish and English translations),
but the student book pages are included in the teacher's
manual and are reproducible. The teacher's manual provides
supplementary games, activities and exercises for students,
as well as answers to the written exercises. The CD is
provided for use as an accompaniment for every exercise
presented in the book. For those teachers who require
students to purchase their own books or want a set of books
for classroom use, the student book is available separately.

H Recorder Karate—Barb Philipak. Whether you are
looking for a classroom-tested recorder method or want to
supplement your current method with some motivational
materials, this unique kit is the answer. Everything you will
need to get students started with the recorder is included
- music, certificates, and other reproducible materials.
Students receive colored "karate belts" to hang from their
recorders for each progressively more difficult tune, creating
a simple positive reward system. Teachers will appreciate
the helpful tips on handling day-to-day classroom challenges
such as instrument care and noise control, plus an in-
depth tutorial on how to play the recorder. The nine familiar
songs are reproducible, plus a fingering chart, worksheets,
certificates, parent letter, and lots of clip art are included.
The P/A CD features simple recordings of all songs, plus
more elaborate renditions of some of the songs as an
option for special performances. Volume 2 picks up where
volume 1 left off and has more music with fully orchestrated
accompaniments. The songs are in order of increasing
difficulty and are designed to be played and tested with the
belt reward system.
