6 • One-line Speaking Parts for 6-8 Children • Optional Solo Animal parts for 4 Children, in costume ("The Friendly Beasts"): Donkey, Cow, Sheep, Dove • Non-speaking or singing optional parts: Mary, Joseph, shepherds at nativity • Optional Tuba Player for opening VeggieTales Theme Song (If used, decorate Tuba with Christmas decorations – especially tinsel!) • All adult and youth leadership can be involved onstage to offer hands-on guidance for the children. Leaders should dress as the children do, and participate along with them. Costumes: • Donkey, Cow, Sheep, Dove, Biblical costumes for Mary, Joseph and Shepherds. • VeggieTales T-Shirts for all children (official trademarked VeggieTales artwork reflecting Christmas musical cover art, available from wordmusic.com) Staging/Set/Props: • Create a "stage look" to your set: curtain in back, if possible; risers for children in choir formation; a bare Christmas tree; a large box to the side, filled with tree decorations and lots and lots of tinsel; mics on stands. • Position a large screen behind/above or to the side of stage for playing DVD – best if it can be seen by the audience AND the children on stage. Nativity manger; stable of some kind. • Create all of the larger-than-life props needed for the "items" the children suggest and bring on to the stage (when they are deciding what they will need to have in a Christmas show): huge Christmas stocking; oversized candy cane; enormous bell (you could use one of the largest handbells for this so that it would be heavy and big); x-tra large wrapped present; then any of the other "not Christmas" items that you decide to use in your production: i.e., beach ball, pirate flag, inflatable palm tree – anything crazy!
