2 CAROLS – SATB FOREWORD There are certain carols that must be sung every December. These beloved carols root the simplicity of Christmas deep into our hearts during an often-over-pro- cessed season. Both musicians and non-musicians alike find tranquility and hope in singing the carols that have been passed down from generation to generation. May you find peace, comfort and joy in singing these CAROLS during the holi- day season! Blessings, Heather PERFORMANCE NOTES AND USAGE Carols was designed to bring your congregation into worship during the Christ- mas season. Each arrangement was crafted with the congregation in mind so that everyone can participate confidently while the choir and accompaniments pro- vide creative, elevated musical moments in each piece. Carols is intended to be a customizeable, multi-use resource in which the congrega- tion and/or audience anchors the singing. It can be: • Presented in its entirety, as a cantata. • Used as a collection, with individual carols sung throughout the season. • Used as a carol sing-a-long in your community. • Expanded upon, by inserting your favorite Christmas anthems into the work. Optional Litanies and Scripture Readings are included to provide additional op- portunities for congregational participation. (Suggested: one worship leader, two readers.) Several accompaniment options are also available: Piano, String Quartet and Pia- no or Chamber Orchestra. Instrumentation for both ensemble options are listed on the back of this book.
