In the weary days of winter, when peace seems like a distant dream, as wounded songs shiver in the night and shadows fall heavy upon the heart, unexpectedly, at just the perfect time, the hope of Christmas begins to glow. Like a golden ember of promise burning in the soul, our frozen hearts start to warm. Our fragile faith begins to stir and we reach past the snowy silence and remember the ancient star songs. We search the treasured words of the prophets, and we gather to our sacred spaces to reflect and remember. There, in the serenity of worship, faint music begins to fall like a gentle snow upon our longing. Softly at first, a mysterious whisper, a mother's sigh, a baby's cry, and then a crescendo of wonders on angels' wings. "Gloria in excelsis Deo." Redeemed, restored and renewed, we join the music. Awakened by grace, w e rejoice, and our world is changed forever. FOREWORD
