NARRATION:
Hear this word from the prophet Isaiah:
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light. On those living
in the land of deep shadows, a light has dawned.
Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to
Jerusalem; and proclaim to her that her struggles are at an end. Her sins
have been redeemed; and the Lord's hand has poured out grace upon her
sins. Listen! There is a new voice calling in the wilderness, "Prepare the
way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for your God."
