2 42943 MIRACLE AT THE CHRISTMAS CAFÉ CAST SET COSTUMES PROPS STAGING Polly Porkchop: Mac N. Cheese: Herald: Mr. Isaiah: Shepherds: Henry, the Innkeeper: Guests: The Choir: No constructed set is needed, other than one or two simple, small tables and chairs (placed in front of the choir) at which the Guests are seated. Put classic café items on each table, such as yellow and red mustard and ketchup bottles and a napkin dispenser. You can make your production as elaborate as you desire and resources allow. For example, you can have a simple door frame where customers enter, a counter for Mac to stand behind with a cash register, signs for "Today's Special," etc. A backdrop behind the choir could depict a starry sky and the Bethlehem horizon. For the nativity scene, simply set up a manger cradle on Stage Left (the audience's right). Add a few small bales of hay if po ssible. Polly Porkchop: Mac N. Cheese: Herald: Mr. Isaiah: Shepherds: Henry, the Innkeeper: Guests: The Choir: During the "Overture," the choir enters and assembles on risers. The guests enter and sit at the tables, pretending to chat casually to each other. Polly and Mac enter and greet the guests, giving each of them a menu. When the "Overture" is completed and Polly speaks, all eyes should be on her as she starts to tell the story. During the interlude in "Senseless Census" (measures 37–45), Polly should go to the tables and pantomime chatting with the guests and generally being cordial.
