As cloud formations come between us and our view of the moon, we see the "shadow" of these clouds on the moon, while mist or fog causes the moon to appear fuzzy or indistinct. The composer describes it: "The Snake River flows through Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and I tried to capture some of its grandeur in the music. The 'stomp' comes from the heavy hoedown feel in cut time. It's written in a rondo form, and its themes have a familiar style that is easy to capture.
