Curse of the Rosin Eating ZombiesRichard
Meyer. It had to happen! Richard Meyer's wildly
successful Rosin Eating Zombies From Outer
Space created an insatiable hunger for more of the
same! It seems that string players (and directors)
love to get a chance to: Give blood curdling
screams; knock on their instruments, bow behind
the bridge for that "psycho sound"; use pizzicato,
tremolo, trills, make munching noises and talk like
zombies! Detailed directions are given for the faint
of heart. Keep string playing fun; choose this highly
recommended winner!

n "D" Jam BluesWilliam Owens. Written with
optional drum set, this simple swing chart provides
a wonderful opportunity for students to explore
jazz without a great deal of technical demands. No
solos in this one; just straight-ahead fun for the
entire ensemble!

Danny Rocks (A Celtic Explosion)Bob
Phillips. A trio of terrific tunes! An air, a jig, and a
reel done in a Celtic rock style! The plaintive sounds
of Danny Boy, also known as Londonderry Air starts
things off. Next, the Swallowtail jig begins with an
intense rhythmic pattern where 6/8 clashes with
3/4 and what sounds like a Bodhran (Irish hand
drum) is actually half the cello section using their
instruments for rhythm! Following that rollicking jig
is a very suspenseful 20-bar transition leading to
the very popular reel, Drowsy Maggie. The energy
level rises throughout and the rock beat intensifies
making this a great concert closer!

n Double TroubleLauren Bernofsky. Here's a
punchy teaching tune to make the key of D come
to life! All the voices have fun with the edgy and
rhythmic eighth note "double trouble" motif.
Emphasis on accents and tight ensemble playing
will make this a class favorite!

Ear IgamiRichard Meyer. Ear-igami is a
fascinating musical tribute to the ancient Japanese
art of paper folding. Instead of a bow, each
performer uses a piece of paper to make sounds
and to "play" their instrument. Your audience will
be entranced as they watch and hear the variety of
effects possible in this charming set of pentatonic
variations. Premiered by the composer's middle
school orchestra, this music is sure to intrigue high
school and adult musicians as well. There's nothing
else like it!

n Folk Tune and Fiddle DancePercy Fletcher.
A long-time favorite for festival and contest, Percy
Fletcher's two-movement suite has been a choice
teaching piece for school orchestras. In true English
folk style, the first movement has multiple sections
in varying styles and meters, and the second
movement is rhythmic, energetic fiddle writing at
its best.

n Instant Recruiting Concertarr. Bob Phillips.
Here's a great recruitment tool from master
recruiter Bob Phillips! Take this to any school and
you are sure to capture their attention. First in
the collection is a great medley of all the famous
classical themes that everyone knows: William
Tell, Eine Kliene Nachtmusik, Trepak from "The
Nutcracker" and more. Next, your students will
introduce themselves and their instrument by
playing a tune kids are sure to recognize: The Pink
Panther, The Flintstones; Walking Bass Lines. Then
everyone plays together for a medley of movie
themes: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings; Harry Potter
and more! Highly recommended!

iRockJeffrey E. Turner. Who said guitar players
get to have all the fun? This piece lets your string
orchestra get down and dirty with some original
rock riffs. With powerful unisons, pulsating
rhythms and accented syncopations, this is a great
introduction to playing contemporary music styles.
Who rocks? iRock!

La PalomaSebastian Yradier/arr. Longfield.
Everyone will recognize this famous tango, also
known as The Dove, and its signature traditional
tango rhythms that mix triplets against dotted duple
figures. Robert's new arrangement is well designed
for string ensemble, superbly written with effective
use of pizzicato, easy tremolo and melody moments
for all sections.

Leroy Anderson's Irish Suite, Part 1Leroy
Anderson/arr. Wagner. The first three movements
of this iconic work are now available in a dynamic
scoring for your full orchestras. Major themes are
presented with all of the color and fresh invention of
the original score. This is music that will delight and
entertain audiences of any age. It's as much fun to
play as it is to listen to! Highly recommended!

Music for a Found HarmoniumJeffes/arr.
Dabczynski. Written in 1984 by English composer
Simon Jeffes and described as minimalist folk
music, Music for a Found Harmonium is widely
recognized for its appearance in the soundtrack
to the popular film "Napoleon Dynamite." In
this arrangement, the quirky but energetic
melody is introduced by the violas and celli, and
is later echoed and elaborated by the violins.
Joyful rhythmic figures, challenging accents,
syncopations, and a driving bass line all punctuate
the accompaniment throughout the piece. It's an
exuberant work that is bound to bring the audience
to its feet.

l Orange Blossom BluesJohn O'Neill. Inspired
by a song written in 1939 by Ervin Rouse about a
train, it has become known as "the fiddle players
national anthem." The composer growing up in a
railroad town during WWII probably played a part
in that composition. This score is based, not on any
thematic material, but on the spirit of this wonderful
fiddle tune.
10458598 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 40.00
n Orange JamJeffrey Bishop. Give your students
a shot at this exciting work that lets them imitate
rock guitar sounds. This is a straightforward rock
piece that is both energetic and fun to play! The
G minor/modal tonality really lets the open strings
ring out. Your orchestra will love jamming to this
piece at any time of the year. The final words of the
composer's notes say it all: "Have Fun!"
10030756 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 45.00
n Pizzicati (Scherzettino from "Sylvia")Leo
Delibes/arr. Stroud. Delibes' music for the ballet
"Sylvia" was often considered more interesting than
the ballet itself. The scherzettino known as Pizzicati is
an excellent example of how Delibes dictated action,
as you can almost hear a story unfold as the music
plays. This is a light-hearted, fun pizzicato feature for
the advancing string orchestra. Perfect for a pops
concert and features a solo violin and cello!
10316843 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 45.00
n Postcard from MarsLauren Bernofsky. Looking
for a fun, yet stimulating piece for your group? Then
how about some music from Mars? This fantastic
original work contains all the notes from traditional
minor and major scales, but you have never heard
them played in these combinations before! The
music is cleverly designed to fit well under the
fingers, but the melodic and harmonic gestures
are, well, out of this world!
10366859 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 45.00
Red Pepperarr. Jeffrey S. Bishop. Based on
traditional Zydeco music and Cajun fiddling style,
this clever arrangement passes tunes playfully from
one section to another, sometimes over a pizzicato
walking bass line. This top-seller is full of energy
and fun!
10048339 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 45.00
Remote ControlRichard Meyer. This one is
"laugh-out-loud" funny! The concept is simple:
what if you could control a live orchestra with a
remote control? With the click of a switch (or,
in this case, the sound of a bell), the orchestra
switches from piece to piece in mid-phrase.
Listen as Eine Kleine Nachtmusik changes to
Beethoven's Seventh to Stars and Stripes Forever
and back again! Your audience will love it as they
"surf" from channel to channel, including brief
stops at the "Opera" channel and the "Sci-Fi"
channel! This remote even has a "pause" button
that freezes the orchestra, and a "mute" button
that keeps them playing, but with no sound! Great
fun for everyone!

H
Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space
Richard Meyer. Don't miss this! If there is one piece
your developing orchestra will love rehearsing and
performing, it's this one! This programmatic piece
spins a tale of mayhem and mischief as the rosin
eating zombies take over your stage complete with
blood-curdling screams, glissandos, ponticello and
more. All the eerie effects are clearly explained and
notated, so the only trouble you'll have is getting
your students to stop playing it. It's a wild ride you
won't want to miss!

Shadows in the HouseThom Sharp. This
fast swing piece in G minor is playfully sneaky!
With a catchy, singable tune, this work features
a tutti pizzicato section, as well as some melodic
moments for bass and celli. All parts remain in
first position, with a couple of "funky" accidentals
thrown in for fun. The swing-eighth feel keeps the
mood appropriately shadowy!

n Teddy Bear's PicnicJohn W. Bratton/arr.
Lipton. Let these frolicking bears steal the next
concert! Idyllic, yet sophisticated in a bouncy 6/8,
Bob Lipton's treatment of this American two-step
march plays nicely with a string orchestra. The
march was composed during the height of "teddy
bear" mania associated with President Theodore
"Teddy" Roosevelt, with lyrics added in 1937.
"Beneath the trees, where nobody sees. They'll hide
and seek as long as they please. Today's the day
the teddy bears have their picnic!"

high school players in this sterling arrangement

as percussion instruments. Highly recommended!

n 221B Baker StreetJeffrey Bishop. The title of
this exciting musical depiction is, of course, the
residence of Sherlock Holmes. The three musical
motifs depict Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson and the
arch-villain Professor Moriarity. The music moves
from thoughtful to intense and is fun to play!

l Bach to RockMark Wood. Written as a tribute
to the great composer Johann Sebastian Bach, it
showcases the beauty of 17th century music with a
more contemporary rock feel. The rock aspects of
the work are in the harmonies, and in the use of the
optional rock and roll rhythm section consisting of
piano, guitar, bass and drums.

n Basses LoadedCarrie Lane Gruselle. Let your
bass section shine and groove in this upbeat medley
of funk, swing and good ol' fashioned rock n' roll!
Opportunities for improvisation are included (with
written parts as well) and an optional drumset part
really adds to the flair. While the basses show off,
the other sections of the orchestra also experience
the contagious rhythms and melodies as they get
down and rock out. An absolute showstopper!

Richard Meyer. This bluegrass "fiddle" version of
Rossini's famous overture will get your audiences'
toes tappin' and your violinists' fingers flyin'. The
entire violin section is featured in this fun, virtuosic-
sounding rendition that is perfect for recruiting
concerts, encores, or just plain showing off! Loaded
with string crossings and "doubled" notes, this piece
will take some of the starch out of Rossini's collar!
