T he WordKidz Club is excited to present "Christmas in KidCity," brought to you by Simply WordKidz, the easy- learn, easy-sing series formatted especially for smaller choirs, or larger choirs with limited rehearsal time. Simply WordKidz is home to our "easier" musicals. And while this one may be easy, it is also super fun, full of heart, and dares to proclaim from the beginning that THIS IS GONNA BE BIG! Or better yet, in the style and vernacular of the script...#thisisgonnabebig. Created by Dave Clark and Emily Mingledorff, the action all takes place within a church's kids ministry room, dubbed "KidCity." With the timeline leading up to their annual Christmas celebration, this 26-minute musical for Kids Choir is nonstop fun, chock-full of cleverly written songs (the kids will walk away knowing the major and minor prophets!), all supported by an effortlessly effective, heartwarming script. The leader of this intrepid group of young Christmas celebrants is Ms. Eugenia, whose main claim to fame is that she almost won 1st place in the State Bible Quiz Finals when she was a child! (But she was always stumped trying to pronounce the name "Habakkuk.") This 'running gag' throughout the script is the thread that weaves them toward the all-important moment when the kids sing a uniquely powerful version of the Big Daddy Weave hit, "Redeemed." I am redeemed! You set me free. So I'll shake off these heavy chains, wipe away every stain. Now I'm not who I used to be... I am redeemed! Hearing this song sung by young voices with Christian hearts is a profoundly moving moment. When they sing it, we pray that it will not only minister to your Kids Choir, but that it will also be the spark that helps lead people to salvation.
