EXPERIENCE THE POWER OF THE STORY Truth is neither fragile nor scarce. And the truth of Christmas? Well, the truth of Christmas is more wonderful and beautiful than we can comprehend. But truth also comes with an edge and two sides. Truth can be terrible and frightening. Ask Ezra. Years of serving in Herod's court taught him well—so many lost at the hand of that mad king. Yet, as he observes, truth has a way of surfacing, no matter how hard you try to hold it under. The big question, why was it so important to eliminate a small Baby born to an insignificant couple from Nazareth? And what about Judith? When greed for more money prompted the empire of Rome to count its subjects for taxation, it was her inn that sheltered the small family from Nazareth. Everyone had to return to their ancestral home. It didn't matter if you were lame, blind—or with child—no excep- tion would be made. Her inn was overrun with people and yet a desperate young man's search for lodging for his pregnant wife causes her to stop and offer space. Ask Ben. Asleep on the cold ground, he is startled awake when the night sky splits wide open. Ringing in his ears the proclamation—a Saviour, a Saviour! Could it be true that God was coming, if the announcement is made to a lowly shepherd? Ben's experience has taught him that nobody cares about shepherds. That is until now. Come, hear their first-hand accounts of that day when the Saviour came.
