MELVIN TURTLE comes rushing in holding a small piece of paper.] MAJOR MOO: MELVIN: ANNIE: MELVIN: CECIL: MELVIN: CECIL: MELVIN: MAJOR MOO: MELVIN: DOVIE: MAJOR MOO: MELVIN: LACEY: MELVIN: DOVIE: [writing on her scroll] Hmmm…got it. I think I have both sides of the story now. Yes, Miss Dovie's dreams are sweet, but they're not… [breathlessly] Hold everything, hold everything! This just in! [taking out her scroll ready to write] Who are you? Name's T. Melvin Turtle, and I'm the messenger. Now I've seen everything…a turtle who's a messenger. [looking suspiciously at CECIL] Well, what about a caterpillar who's a bellhop? Okay, okay, you're right. So what's the message? Quite some time ago, an angel appeared to a young lady in Nazareth to tell her she would bring forth a Son who would be called Jesus. And you're just announcing this? I'm a turtle! And it's a bit of a hike from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Oh, how exciting! Perhaps these prophets are right about the Messiah coming soon! Calm down and keep your wings on Dovie! I've told you this is just nonsense. But everyone…including prophets…are all a-twitter about this. Are they tweeting? No, the prophets said tweeting won't happen until a very long time from now. Whatever that means. I can feel the excitement! I think something big is going to happen soon! For Preview Only
