2 45943 THE NOEL CRITTER MOTEL CAST SET COSTUMES PROPS STAGING Major Moo: Miss Dovie: Ladybug Lacey: Cecil R. Caterpillar: Annie Lamb: T. Melvin Turtle: Mary and Joseph plus other assorted animals and shepherds: No constructed set is needed. Place a counter for Major Moo to stand behind. If possible, hang a sign above the counter that reads "Tiny Bit of Heaven Motel." Decorate your set with other "motel" items: A coatrack, small suitcases, a few potted plants, etc. To the left or right of the primary playing area, set up a small manger scene. Do an Internet search for "homemade cow costume," "homemade ladybug costume," "homemade lamb costume," etc. for a wealth of creative ideas, images, and instructions. For Major Moo, add a necktie and sport coat to create an anachronistic touch. Add a bow in Annie Lamb's hair; a classic bellhop cap for Cecil; classic maid cap or bonnet for Lacey; baseball cap for Melvin. For Mary, Joseph, and Shepherds (if used): traditional robes and headdresses. For other additional animals (if used): costumes appropriate to the animal (again, use the Internet for ideas). • Small bell for the counter. • Small lamp for the counter. • Small colored handkerchiefs for each choir member in the opening song. • Scroll and pencil for Annie. The scroll should be small and easy to write on. • Feather duster for Lacey. During the "Overture" the choir enters and assembles on risers. Major Moo and other staff members enter and do little bits of "business" while the "Overture" plays: Major Moo rings the bell and welcomes each staff member; Cecil runs in carrying a few suitcases and puts them down; Lacey dusts all around the counter and stage. Annie enters and starts observing everyone and taking notes. When the "Overture" ends, everyone (including the CHOIR) freezes while Melvin speaks. After Melvin finishes, everyone unfreezes when Major Moo claps his hooves. For "You Are Emmanuel," the Cast (not Choir) moves to the manger area (during the "Underscore"). If desired, the Cast can return to the primary playing area at the conclusion of "You Are Emmanuel." The head of the motel. Proper and efficient; quite the skeptic. Front desk clerk Maid Bellhop Reporter for The Bethlehem Chronicle Messenger Optional characters if a manger tableaux is used. Using the manger tableaux is a good solution for productions wishing to expand the cast. For Preview Only
