STORYTELLER: We gather together to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We are surrounded by symbols of God's eternal love for His people: the Advent wreath, the evergreen branches, the Christmas tree and the poinsettia. These traditions are expressions of faith by Christians throughout the ages. By observing them, we acknowledge our heritage and honor it by passing it on to future generations of God's family.
Continuing another Christmas tradition, we return our gifts to God, Who gave us the greatest gift of all, His Son, Jesus Christ. The Wise Men brought their treasures from a distant eastern land, and the shepherds from the fields gave of themselves. May the gifts that we bring honor Christ in His ministry on earth, to feed and clothe the poor, heal the sick, and help the blind to see. And, in all ways, may these gifts glorify the eternal God, the Alpha and Omega, world without end.
