Joe Zawinul's perennial jazz favorite gets a really accessible and solid treatment in this arrangement that is modeled after the legendary Cannonball Adderly Quintet recording from 1966. The happy, gospel-rock style is one that is always fun to hear and play and now young jazz players can experience it in this easiest version published to date. It's scored for full jazz ensemble instrumentation, but will sound full and complete with a minimum of 3 saxes (AAT), 3 trumpets, 2 trombones, piano, bass and drums. Recorded by Maroon 5 with Christina Aguilera, this infectious dance tune is popular on the airwaves as well as in television commercials. With catchy riffs and a driving rock style, Paul Murtha's chart is skillfully scored to give everyone a taste of the melody. An optional, flexible solo section is included. Additional features include suggested solos, chord/scale sheets in all keys, and options for reduced or expanded instrumentations. Recorded in 1984 by the German rock group Scorpions, this classic hard rock hit remains popular in today's culture thanks to sporting events, video games, TV and film. There aren't many jazz standards written in a rock style, and this Lee Morgan tune is one of the best! Now available for younger bands, with a funky bossa groove and hot horn punches! 2454833 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 40.00 4 Spin CycleMike Pinto. Change up the feel on your next program with this hip, pop/rock style chart that features a catchy melody and contemporary harmonies. The groove, at about 104 bpm, catches right off the top and the scoring is safe and solid for younger groups. The guitar solo is an excellent choice for the style. If you recognize a strong influence from the great music of Sting, you are on the right track. A great contrast to more traditional charts, Spin Cycle is also playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. 10604636 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 Steep and DeepJeff Jarvis. Given the widespread popularity and accessibility of this writer's funk charts, you'll enjoy this original for developing groups. It's an easier funk tune and features melodic content without the usual double- time 16th-note figures. A solid introduction sets up a tuneful melody, and the funk groove is coupled with a rich chord progression that provides plenty of audience and player appeal. Solo sheets for Eb, Bb, C and Bass Clef instruments are offered for the open solo section and the chart is playable by as few as 9 and as many as 17 players.
