Here's an original rock chart with a gospel feel that will showcase developing groups at their best. At around 132 bpm, it features the full ensemble with suitably melodic lines before nice development and dynamic builds in the second section. The excitement really begins to build with the very cool backgrounds in the open solo section where suggested solos are provided. There's a hip sax section soli after the solos, then the full band falls into the groove with sections answering back and forth before the dynamic ending. This 1975 tune by the Temptations is one of their later hits and is described as "funkadelic" in style. This chart features the infectious bass line first stated by baritone sax and guitar, and later joined by the rest of the ensemble playing the funky riffs. The solo section on a one-chord vamp can easily be opened up, but samples are provided for alto sax, trumpet and trombone. You will love the way the ensemble layers in near the ending.
