The PBS series The Civil War was one that captured America's attention. This beautiful lament from that documentary has taken on a life of its own. Feature your top player on this famous American tune! The first time through, the soloist takes the lead accompanied by some pizzicato and the occasional foot stomp. The second time through, first violins play most of the tune along with the soloist. The third and final time through the soloist gets some nice variations on the tune. And, oh yes, the faster the better! 2702541 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .M 48.00 H Celtica (for Solo Violin and Orchestra)— Brian Balmages. What could be more inspiring to your young players than playing with an advanced musician? Offer the solo to a local high school or college student, or even a pro in the area, and have them guest star at your next concert. Or, inspire your players by offering an easier version of the solo to be played by a member of your orchestra. It's a win- win situation for everyone! Your players will love the chance to play the lyrical lines and powerful, driving rhythms of Celtic music. 10008662 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . Ideal for young orchestras who are interested in featuring a soloist, the piece comes with an advanced viola solo as well as an easier version that can be performed by a violist in your group. The same options are given for violin! Easy percussion parts really add flare, making this the showstopper of your next program. It's a great way to add some sizzle to your next concert! Oscar winning composer Ennio Morricone has provided Hollywood with some of its monumental film scores, including this engaging music from "The Mission." This memorable theme can feature either an oboe, a flute, or solo violin backed by an impressive, rich string orchestral accompaniment. 10033632 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . .ME 45.00 H Gloria in Excelsis Deo—Antonio Vivaldi/ arr. Don Brubaker. It's Vivaldi's Gloria - without all those pesky singers! This string orchestra arrangement of Vivaldi's choral masterwork is the perfect introduction for young string players. It retains the composer's key of D Major and features solo/soli parts for your advanced players! The opportunity to teach or reinforce hooked bowing and the bow lift is present in each section of the orchestra. Everyone in your orchestra will enjoy the rhythmic vitality and harmonic beauty of this enduring masterwork. 10050383 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . E 49.00 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen— arr. Dazzling violin solos (both lyrical and technical) and highly rhythmic passages accompanied by drum set really set this work apart. Optional piano and harp add to the sound of a work destined to bring down the house. A great closer! 10047958 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .M 60.00 It Takes One to Tango—Brian Balmages. Here's a unique feature for that exceptional student cellist (or euphonium player). All the drama of a tango, with intricate mystery and plenty of rhythmic variation. The orchestra provides accessible accompaniment and response to the vibrant solo. Sure to receive a standing ovation! 10307197 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . .ME 60.00 Japanese Lullaby—Keiko Yamada. This dramatic music is based on an authentic Japanese folk song Mori no Fukuro (The Forest Owl). This pensive and beautiful tune becomes the inspiration for a truly unique arrangement. Textures change mysteriously as a solo violin and solo cello exchange, melodies, followed by 2 solo violins soaring over pizzicato accompaniment. This builds into the final statement of the folk song with an obbligato in the first violins. Highly recommended! 10013227 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . E 50.00 4 Momentium—Paul Barker. "Hamilton" is without question the most creative, talked-about musical to hit Broadway this millennium. In this stand-out selection from the show, the lead characters lay out their plans for a victory, despite their personal hardships. This arrangement for strings and a vocalist is a clever way to connect students with American history! 10628859 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .M 50.00 Oblivion—Astor Piazzolla/arr. Longfield. Originally composed for chamber ensemble, this sultry tango features a violin, flute or oboe solo with string orchestra. A lovely piece that is incredibly expressive and emotional. 10374202 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . .ME 50.00 One Bow Concerto—Richard Meyer. Your audience will laugh out loud! A violinist, a violist and a cellist have soloist seats in front of the orchestra, and they share just one bow, passing it to one another just in the nick of time. The orchestra is all pizzicato, so there really is only one bow. "But a cellist shouldn't use a violin bow," you think. Right, so they stop passing it to him and the cellist shows what he thinks of that! By the end the bow is in the hand of the conductor. Recommended as a show-stopper! 2475422 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . E 62.00 H Theme from Schindler's List— John Williams/arr. Longfield & Barlowe. This special edition of John Williams' eloquent theme is arranged to feature a violin solo, violin duet, or a violin and viola duet. Set in its original key, the solo part is the original version as played by Ithzak Perlman, and accompanied by the duet part and a rich string orchestra backdrop. A powerful and dramatic program piece! 10041857 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . .ME 60.00 H Winter from "The Four Seasons" (Second Movement)—Antonio Vivaldi/arr. McCarrick. This arrangement is simple enough for the violin, viola, or cello soloist of your choice! Vivaldi's lyrical second movement, now in G Major, stays true to the original with the famous melody over pizzicato accompaniment. The violin solo is entirely in first position, and the viola and cello soloists only need to know the first three notes they learn in third position: D, E, and F sharp on the A string! 10049864 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . . E 49.00 SOLO FEATURES Feature your students in these exciting solos with orchestra!
