A Note from Lynn Shaw Bailey
Have you ever been looking at something you've seen or known most of your life and suddenly discover
something new? Perhaps you observe some detail you'd missed before or gain some new insights you'd
never considered. That is what happened to me while writing Come to the Manger.
The more I studied and meditated on God's Word, the more God's Spirit revealed about the coming and birth
of Jesus Christ and the remarkable love God has for each of us. I was drawn to the manger in a brand new
way! Like the awe-struck and excited shepherds, I marveled over things I had never seen before. I considered
new ways of looking at the old, old story, and in so doing, I grew even closer to Jesus: the Promised One,
Emmanuel, Messiah, the Light of the world, the Bread of Life, the Prince of Peace, Lord of lords and King of
kings, our everlasting Hope and Salvation.
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, may God draw us even closer to the manger–that feeding trough for
animals used as a humble crib for the Savior of all. May we discover God's love in a new and deeper way.
And may the goodness and light of Jesus so shine through us that others come to the manger and discover
the eternal love of Jesus.
Soli Deo Gloria!
