The inspiration for this regal work came from the statue of the Titan Atlas lifting the universe on his shoulders. The opening sounds of the majestic chords relay remarkable strength of this feat as the texture grows and intensifies. The monumental effort then leads to an uptempo and spirited change of tempo, relaying a victorious sense of splendor and success. 10759691 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . M 110.00 10759692 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 12.50 4 Bringer of War—Brian Balmages. Inspired by the masterful work "The Planets" by Gustav Holst, this original piece pays homage to the dramatic first movement. Using only six notes in all instruments, the music has the powerfully ominous quality of Mars that has enthralled generations of listeners with bold, majestic melodies and rhythmic ostinato. A unique original by a master composer. 10758191 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . . . B 45.00 10758192 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6.00 4 The Dragon—Rob Grice. This descriptive work for young musicians is as big, bold, and majestic as the mythical and mighty creature it represents. Stories of these grand creatures have captivated audiences throughout history and continue to thrill us in movies and on television. Written well within the capabilities of young musicians, this work portrays these grand creatures in an impressive manner that befits their legendary status. 10700085 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . . . E 47.00 10700086 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6.00 4 Fable—Erik Morales. Having the sound of an epic movie soundtrack, this work was inspired by old collections of children's stories such as Aesop's Fables and Grimm's Fairy Tales. Broad, memorable themes create images that jump off the page while an energetic and highly rhythmic pulse drives the work forward. Just as the written stories did, the music maintains a veil of darkness and intrigue that captures the imagination of the listener from start to finish. 10758201 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . ME 70.00 10758202 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 8.00 l Festival at Camelot—David Bobrowitz. Capture the energy and activity of a festival in King Arthur's Camelot. Staccato eighths and quick sixteenth-note figures provide the feeling of movement, and traditional yet interesting harmonies provide the atmosphere of the locale. Written in two distinct sections with active and engaging material in all of the band parts, the energetic pace never ceases. 10757619 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . . . E 55.00 10757620 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7.00 l The Gates of Horn—Peter Terry. In the Odyssey, dreams come into the world through one of two gates. False dreams come through the gates of ivory while true dreams enter through gates of horn that tell the user of things to be, or truth. This decidedly dramatic piece for band alternates an echoing syncopated fanfare and a strong yet lyrical theme, with the two contrasting ideas chasing each other throughout the piece. 10759703 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . . . E 70.00 10759704 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 10.00 l The Legend of El Muerto—Roland Barrett. An 1800s folk tale from No Man's Land in Texas provides the backdrop to this haunting adventure piece. The thrilling music will have imaginations running wild with images of sinister cattle rustlers and horse thieves, complete with a trumpet solo providing the stolen horse's whinny. A delightful and fun addition to beginning band literature. 10733617 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . . . E 56.00 10733618 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 10.00 l Morpheus—Randall Standridge. In mythology, Morpheus is the god of dreams, and this work paints a peaceful dreamscape of sound where instrumental colors and textures shift and weave as they blend into one another. The meandering ostinatos and chordal shifts represent the sometimes illogical and often startling way dreams can change and evolve throughout the night. 10651388 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . . M 55.00 10651389 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 12.00 l Oceanus—Peter Terry. Young students are fascinated with music inspired by myths and legends, and this is such a piece. Named for the sea god of Greek and Roman mythology, he was the father of rivers and streams, personified as a huge river that circled the earth. The music begins with the gentle rippling of water as it endlessly circles the world, building into a depiction of the growing waves of the deep ocean and dramatic storms that prowl the surface of the waters. 10759671 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . . . B 50.00 10759672 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6.50 l Pandora's Lament—Rob Romeyn. This powerfully poignant work depicts Pandora unleashing all of life's miseries on the world. A bold and forceful opening gives way to a beautiful, haunting melody with lush and mournfully dissonant harmonies that gradually build to a climax of emotion and power. As the music ends, we are reminded of the hope that was also in the box. A meaningful and significant addition to concert band repertoire. 10758853 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . The power and fury of the Greek god Poseidon comes alive in this thrilling programmatic epic. Raise the sounds of angry seas and furious storms with your ensemble as Poseidon takes revenge on the giant scorpion for the death of his son. Pulsating rhythms, heroic melodies, and ominous harmonies combine to create this intense and unforgettable musical drama. 10758875 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . . We'll take an imaginary look into that top-secret facility through music and special effects provided by pop bottle flutes. 10700079 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . ME 52.00 10700080 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7.00 4 Spontaneous Beings—Brian Balmages. This work is based on an authentic folk music tradition and oral history of a large group of Native American tribes of northeastern North America. The title is a literal translation of their name for themselves. The piece relies heavily on traditional percussion instruments, with optional substitutes suggested, in an approachable yet powerful presentation. 10758233 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . ME 75.00 10758234 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 9.00 4 Sunchaser—Carol Britten Chambers. The contemplative opening measures set the mood, depicting the dawn of a new day. As time passes and the day progresses, the music picks up momentum, quickly launching into a spirited adventure full of energy and life. This beautiful work is rife with musical imagery, highlighting the strengths of your young band so they'll sound their best. 10759713 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . . . E 70.00 10759714 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 10.00 4 This Cruel Moon—John Mackey. This terrific work is a wonderful adaptation of the middle movement of the larger work Wine-Dark Sea: Symphony for Band. It's meant to represent the song of the beautiful and immortal nymph Kalypso who saves Odysseus, falls in love with him, and ultimately loses him. The music is very expressive, with quiet moments of tenderness that swell to moving climaxes, finally subsiding to close with a moving touch of sadness and loss. 10766522 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . ME 165.00 10766523 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . 20.00 l Triumphal March of the Titans— Jerry Nowak. The impressive writing for winds is further enhanced by sections that feature the percussion section in a grand manner. Perfect for concerts or graduation processionals. 10761137 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . ME 55.00 10761141 Additional Score. . . . . . . . . . . . . . 8.00 4 The Winged Serpent—Brian Drake. The composer wrote this piece to give his band experience with chromatic music. This edgy work spins a musical picture of the Mayan feathered serpent god and uses minor seconds and trombone glissandi to help give the piece a slithering sound. Portraying the mythical serpent who flew to the sun and burned its tongue, it's an exciting, well-written work. 10758297 Band Set & Score. . . . . . . . .
