Concert Marches medium-easy / medium
4 The Kid's Sunshine MarchRichard Hembree.
This work was inspired by the theme to a popular
show many students watched, itself an incarnation
of Beethoven's Turkish March. The piece kicks
off with Beethoven's theme, then detaches itself
rather quickly, becoming more like a distant cousin
yet maintaining the quirky air of the show's theme.
The fun, simple melody is passed around to each
section of the band before ending with a few
surprising modulations.

bands. James Swearingen's effective adaptation
of this superb march assures your band will know

technical aspects within reach of developing bands.

n BandoramaLarry Clark & Sandy Feldstein.
In the very first performance of this piece, the
conductor performed with over 850 musicians!
Talk about a "Band-o-rama"! For years, directors
have asked for pieces that can be performed with
mass bands, whether as a culminating number in
a multi-school concert, or as a recruitment tool
to keep younger bandsmen motivated. In some
instances, one school will have multiple bands,
each at a different ability level. This piece will meet
the need if any of this sounds familiar to you. The
amazing aspect of this piece, is that the "sets" that
encompass three levels of difficulty, elementary,
middle or junior high, and high school, work as an
independent piece. The music simply gets better
as the groups are combined. What a great idea!

The American Red Cross March—Louis Panella/arr. David Butler.
Once you hear this terrific march you'll wonder why it's not better known or performed more
often. Composed by Louis Panella, this fine march was meant to honor the humanitarian work
of the Red Cross during World War I. A stellar example of the American march tradition, it
shows why the composer is considered one of Pittsburgh's most revered musicians.

Invictus (March)—Karl L. King/arr. Andrew Glover.
Meaning "unconquerable," this ponderous and dramatic march from the "King" of all march
composers lives up to its title. Composed for his friend Merle Evans, it opens with a minor-
key section featuring low brass and woodwinds. The following section features exciting
sounds of the circus with the trio returning to the minor key before ending with a rock-solid
finale. An excellent choice for more advanced high school, college, and adult bands.
