Ciudad de Oro is a Latin/jazz original based on a funky type of timba, a recent Cuban rhythmic style based on a 3:2 clave. It's an exciting composition that includes active parts for all players, varied textual ensembles, and an open solo section with solo sheets and chord changes included. This will be an effective change-of-pace tune for any performance or festival set! 10604650 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 52.00 Cuban OvertureGeorge Gershwin/arr. Chris Sharp. A serious work adapted from the symphonic poem composed by George Gershwin, arranger Chris Sharp has accepted the challenge to create this amazing arrangement for big band. This chart is a primarily a bright samba but it has a slow middle section which reverts to the fiery samba groove. The written or improvised solo space is for alto 1 and trumpet 2 and the lead trumpet range is to D above the staff. A percussion part is included as well. This is a brilliant arrangement and will certainly be a high point in any concert or festival performance. 10277947 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . A 55.00 H Cubauza!Michael Philip Mossman. This exciting Afro-Cuban composition is the opening cut from the 1993 album 944 Columbus, the final recoding by Mario Bauza, one of the most influential figures in the development of Latin jazz. The title comes from combining the words "Cuban" and "Bauza" and features a bebop influence interpreted by the Afro-Cuban rhythm section. This newly edited and engraved edition is a "must have" for mature bands. 10282975 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . A 60.00 4 Duke of IronSonny Rollins/arr. Mike Tomaro. This calypso flavored composition from Sonny Rollins may not be as well-known as his St. Thomas, however Duke of Iron is a distinctive and marvelous tune in its own right. Featuring two tenor saxes and two trombones off the top, this chart is well-scored for the entire ensemble and sure to become a favorite. The solo space is for tenor sax and trombone. Suggested solos, chord/scale sheets in all keys, and fully notated bass lines and piano voicings are included. 10759334 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 55.00 l Ecaroh (Little Big Band)Horace Silver/ arr. Chuck Israels. This chart has a long-lined melody contrasting with a Latin style accompanying figure and a specific and detailed drum part as created by Art Blakey. Then there is a contrasting second chorus ensemble that abandons the Latin figure and continues in a normal swing feel. This captures much of the spirit of Silver's association with Art Blakey and the special music they created together. Small Band: ATB Saxes, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Guitar, Bass, and Drums. 10757436 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 50.00 El AbrazoAlan Baylock. You can't help but smile when you play and hear Tonight, We Tango. At around 112 bpm, this tongue-in-cheek chart is tons of fun and has a melody that just won't go away, plus the groove is one that people will insist on dancing to. It was arranged to feature Grammy- nominated accordionist Alex Meixner, but in the event you don't have an accordionist in the band (really?), you can feature any of your sauciest players on the optional B-flat, E-flat and Bass Clef solo parts. The solo parts are a combination of written passages and improvised choruses that will demonstrate the versatility of your ensemble. Nice! 10734981 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .60.00 10734981E Jazz Ensemble ePrint . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .60.00 4 Doodlin' (Little Big Band)—Horace Silver/arr. Chuck Israels. Horace Silver created a blues with a perfectly consistent character and structured the accompaniments and his piano solo in perfect balance. Orchestrating the piano parts from the original recording is a fairly straightforward process. Some thought goes into choosing which instruments best express the music and there's some attention paid to contrasting timbres and textures, but so much of the music already exists in Silver's piano playing, both in his solos and in his accompaniments, that the piece is already there without additional writing. It's a perfect framework that will produce a telling performance. Small Band: ATB Saxes, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Guitar, Bass, and Drums. 10757434 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .M 50.00 l Ecaroh (Little Big Band)—Horace Silver/arr. MA 50.00 4 Opus de Funk (Little Big Band)—Horace Silver/arr. Chuck Israels. Here's a Horace Silver standard blues piece set in a small band format. It's joyful and subtle at the same time, with a specific eighth-note feel, without which the chart will sound overly bouncy. But with the right emphasis and phrasing, it's a swinging chart with few difficulties once the eighth-note feel has been mastered. Small Band: ATB Saxes, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Piano, Bass, and Drums. 10757442 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . MA 50.00 4 Sister Sadie (Little Big Band)—Horace Silver/arr. Chuck Israels. Chuck Israels: "I have heard that Gil Evans once said that all he'd do to score this piece would be to orchestrate Horace Silver's piano playing. I had done exactly that (before I had heard that Gil thought the same way about expanding this music), and the results have been reliably spectacular. We play it slightly faster than the original recording, but not so fast that the piece becomes frantic. It is energized enough and practically foolproof." Small Band: ATB Saxes, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Piano, Bass, and Drums. 10757446 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
