SCENE 2 CAROL: Well, Mr. Southwell, it looks like you got your Bible story in after all. MASON: Even better . . . I got something to eat! (all chuckle) MR. SOUTHWELL: Well, there are definitely similarities . . . but there are also some pretty important differences. What Jesus did was a miracle! MASON: (gratefully) I'd say what Bennett did was pretty high up on the list, too! JULIA: And speaking of "high up," wonder why we haven't seen a fire truck with a ladder yet? MR. SOUTHWELL: Hmm . . . not sure. I don't hear the alarm anymore, so that's good. MASON: But we're still out here, so that's bad! At least it's starting to cool off a little. (fanning self) Whew! JULIA: Yeah, but that's only because the sky is getting blacker. Which means the storm is getting closer! ( SFX– Wah Wah Wah) CAROL: Julia!! Do you always have to find the dark side of everything? MASON: (teasing) Don't look now, but I'd say today the dark side is gonna find her! CAROL: And if the fire truck is going to find us, it better hurry, or it will be too late! MR. SOUTHWELL: Excuse me . . . excuse me . . . I assure you it was not my plan to turn everything into a Bible lesson. But, as I'm listening to you all talking, I'm reminded of another one of Jesus' miracles. MASON: Good. I'm getting hungry again! MR. SOUTHWELL: Sorry, Mason. This one doesn't involve food at all. Does anybody here remember the story of a man named Lazarus? - < 4 20 For Preview Only
