Brian Blume. Composed by Edvard Grieg, Anitra's Dance is preceded by In the Hall of the Mountain King in the famous Peer Gynt Suite. Originally scored for strings and triangle, and with a great deal of pizzicato playing in the strings, it allowed for a fairly seamlessly transfer to the idiom of percussion ensemble. The timbral palette is expanded by the addition of several nonpitched percussion instruments, and some of the melodic material has been enhanced by arpeggiated harmonies and rapid scalar passages, particularly in the marimba voice. The result is a lovely classical adaptation that can serve as a quiet programming contrast. 10435057 Percussion Ensemble with CD-ROM for 12-13 Players . . . . . .MA 40.00 H Blue Rondo a La Turk—Dave Brubeck/arr. Cockarell. This arrangement of Dave Brubeck's classic jazz standard is a great addition to your jazz settings for percussion ensemble. Scored for eight performers, this very fast, over four-minute arrangement lends itself extremely well to the percussion idiom. Instruments needed include xylophone, two marimbas (one 4-1/2, one 4-1/3 octave), two vibraphones, tambourine, low wood block, splash and suspended cymbal, congas, drumset, and bass guitar. Enjoy. 10083714 Percussion Ensemble 8 Players. . . . . . . . . . . . .MA 45.00 Brazilian Beat—Joel Smales. This creative collection presents six originals in a variety of Brazilian drumming styles. The scoring calls for agogo bells, shaker, whistle, cowbell, samba whistle, ganza, repenique, snare drum and surdo. If not all equipment is available, suggestions for substituting with more traditional instruments are provided. Parts can also be doubled to create a massive sound in the Brazilian tradition. Your audience will have a blast! 10351248 Percussion Quintet . . . . .MA 14.95 Creepy Little Wiggly Things—Gary Gilroy. Written for a large number of percussionists, 13 total, this piece requires a variety of instruments both common and a little more unique that might be associated with the title. Instrumentation includes: two xylophones, vibraphone, and two marimbas and chimes, along with many cymbals and smaller hand- held instruments. Of special interest are: small egg shaker, cabasa, water gong, bamboo wind chimes, flexatone, whip, and vibraslap. This energetic composition is perfect for the growing ensemble or any ensemble that just wants to have some fun! 10038007 Percussion Ensemble 13 Players . . . . . . . . . . .MA 40.00 H Encore in Jazz—Vic Firth. Here is a tried-and- true old-school classic! Scored for seven players, Encore in Jazz has catchy melodies, a smooth swing feel with sets and kicks in all the right places, and solo sections that give you the opportunity to showcase your lead players. Wonderfully written and accessible to the developing ensemble! 4786588 Percussion Ensemble 7 Players. . . . . . . . . . . . .MA 17.99 Funkadunk—Scott Higgins. This mixed-meter jam for percussion ensemble does masterful things with timbral interplay without losing any of its forward motion or rhythmic creativity. The triangle part underpins more disjunct figures in the toms and bass drum, with wood block hits punctuating the alternation between 5/8 and 6/8 bars, or between 2, 3, and 4/4 later in the piece. For everyone's sake, let's hope that no one tries to clap along at your concert. The audience can just save their clapping for the end of this fantastic bit of fun and funk! 10435062 Percussion Ensemble 9 Players plus CD-ROM . . . . . . . . . . A 45.00 H Linus and Lucy—Vince Guaraldi/arr. Crockarell. This classic holiday favorite provides the perfect setting for the upbeat percussion ensemble. Scored for the developing student, this just over three-minute piece shares the traditional "Peanuts" theme along with a nice jazz riff section in the middle. Scored for eight performers using bells, xylophone, marimba, two vibraphones, large shaker, bongos, congas, bell tree, drumset and bass guitar, this will certainly have your holiday concert swinging. 10083709 Percussion Ensemble 7 Players plus Bass Guitar . . . . . . .MA 35.00 Millennium—Chris Brooks. For advanced ensembles, this piece sparkles in a lively 5/4 meter. The celebratory fusion feel allows all 14 players to shine. The instruments called for are bells, xylophone, marimba, vibraphone, four timpani, four concert toms, bass drum, crash cymbals, woodblock, shaker, guiro, three temple blocks, suspended cymbal, pang cymbal, and triangle. Sure to impress! 5622212 Percussion Ensemble 14 Players . . . . . . . . . . .MA 45.00 Minor Infraction—Rick Dior. Masterful composer Rick Dior brings us a short, sweet, and somewhat perilous ride through both light and dark territory. Minor Infraction is scored for 9 to 13 percussionists, playable as a mallet-and timpani-only ensemble or with a full complement of orchestral batterie and some Latin percussion. This original composition starts off with a sweet yet simple melody expressed very intimately by a lone marimba and is soon joined by other voices in harmonious fashion. Complexity then creeps out of the woodwork with complex time signatures, extremely fast tempi, and a three-part musical canon performed in the round. Finally, as if awakening from a dream, the piece ends as it began with the solo marimba melody. Well-crafted and a joy for the listener! 10497325 Percussion Ensemble 9-13 Players. . . . . . . . . .MA 45.00 The REM Cycle—Dustin Schulze. Rapid Eye Movement or REM is a stage of sleep characterized by the rapid and random movement of the eyes. It is also the part of sleep where the most vivid dreaming occurs. Part programmatic, part cinematic, part minimalist, yet wholly original, composer Dustin Schulze provides another fun yet challenging work for percussion ensemble with The REM Cycle. In a word... wow! 10497320 Percussion Ensemble 12 Players . . . . . . . . . . .MA 40.00 Shades of Glass—Dustin Schulze. An elaborate piece for large percussion ensemble that is designed to create a hypnotic sense of euphoria by way of layered, repetitive figures and colorful textures. The piano plays a substantial role in adding to the overall landscape, and the piece will require all players to have a keen sensitivity for how the whole ensemble is greater than the sum of its parts. This piece is unique and challenging, and also quite accessible for a wide variety of audiences. A CD- ROM containing an audio recording and printable parts is included. 10346200 Percussion Ensemble 14 Players . . . . . . . . . . .MA 48.00 Sizzle!—Nathan Daughtrey. A high-energy piece using several vocal effects that really cooks! Scored for five players (bongos, splash cym., slapstick, claves, snare drum, sus. cym., medium tom, low tom, hi-hat, wood block temple blocks, bass drum, china cymbal, and log drum). 10019978 Percussion Quintet . . . . .MA 32.00 H Three Brothers—Michael Colgrass. Here is a piece for percussion nonet that has stood the test of time. As the title states, Three Brothers is a three-player feature for snare drum, bongos, and timpani. The other six players have more supportive roles, but also get to shine. The piece is high energy with wonderfully crafted layering and interaction throughout. A classic! 5074216 Percussion Ensemble 9 Players. . . . . . . . . . . . .MA 10.00 H Toccata (for Percussion Instruments)—Carlos Chavez. A beautifully written, classically oriented multi-movement work for six players. The parts are woven well, and, while each percussionists plays multiple instruments, the set ups are relatively small making for an impressive yet manageable piece. 1006972 Percussion Sextet . . . . . .MA 24.95 Drum Set Methods & Studies H Advanced Funk Studies—Rick Latham. 6521967 Drum Set Book/2 CDs. . . . . . .24.95 Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer (Coordinated Independence as Applied to Jazz and Bebop)—Jim Chapin. 5975894 Drum Set Book/2 CDs. . . . . . .24.99 H Alfred's Beginning Drum Set Method— Sandy Feldstein & Dave Black. 2234961 Drum Set Book . . . . . . . . . . . . .9.99 5520986 Drum Set Book/CD . . . . . . . . .19.99 5990992 Drum Set Book/DVD . . . . . . . .19.99 Alfred's Drumset Method No. 2— Dave Black & Mark Powers. 10549100 Drum Set Book/CD-ROM. . . . .19.99 Alfred's Kids Drumset Course— Dave Black & Steve Houghton. 10005449 Drum Set Book/CD . . . . . . . . .15.99 H The Art of Bop Drumming—John Riley. 5332267 Drum Set Book/CD . . . . . . . . .25.99 H Drum Set Etudes, Book 1—Joe Holmquist. 5140264 Drum Set Book . . . . . . . . .ME 6.50 H Drumset (Beginning)—Pete Sweeney. 5986118 Drum Set Book/CD . . . . . .
