Ferry Me 'Cross the Water

One of Rossetti's most often quoted poems is paired with the melody from
Mendelssohn's Venetian Gondola Song in a clever combination of two classics
that align textually and musically. Allusions to Greek mythology and the minor
key give a darker tone that is at once mature and lovely for treble ensembles.
The optional violin or flute obbligato adds to the plaintive feel. A stunning lyrical
choice for treble ensembles.
