PENSIVE
DOVE)
is classified as Type I, which are hymns
sung to settings of traditional ballad tunes. This
classification was devised by Phillips Barry who
was a pioneering early American folk-hymn
specialist and folk-tune collector. The melody is in
the Dorian mode and is repeated five times, but
with the presentation of each verse, new ideas,
lines, and harmonies are added and explored,
changing the flavor but letting the character
remain the same. A beautiful a cappella setting of
a traditional folk tune.

to introduce harmony to young
singers! However, traditional
rounds often have too wide a
range for changing voices, so this
collection was created with the
male changing voice in mind. Fun
and easy-to-sing ostinatos for the
changing male voice accompany
ten familiar rounds sung by treble
voices. Additionally, each round
is presented with two key options
to accommodate the cambiata,
mid-voice and new baritone
range comfortably. Experiment
with other keys until you find your
choirs' sweet spot vocally. This
experimentation will give you a
good idea of the range and tessitura
