Wow, this is great! Mike Story has created an ideal easy swing/shuffle chart on a great blues melody by Sweets Edison. Centerpiece is accessible with easy brass ranges, a medium swing tempo of 120 bpm, along with brief written or improvised solos for tenor sax, trumpet, and alto sax. Well- notated rhythm section parts are included along with optional parts for flute, clarinet and vibes. Also playable with optional reduced instrumentations, this great blues tune has been recorded by all the greats and will become a staple of your library! Based on the chord changes to Gershwin's I Got Rhythm, this bright swing chart was written especially for young groups. The brass ranges are accessible with trumpet up to Eb5 and D4 for trombone. The rhythm section parts provide the drummer with a solid concept of what to play, plus there are notated piano voicings and bass lines. The solo section is written out with solo sheets provided in all keys along with scales to assist improvisation. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations, it can work just as well at a slower tempo. Very playable and great sounding, this makes a terrific introduction to the lighter side of swing. The famous drum solos are clearly written and will be the highlight of the concert. Introduce your young players to the suave Mr. Ellington with this medium tempo swing chart! It's a nice and easy presentation of this wonderful jazz standard. The features include a few sax section solis, written solos for trumpet 1 on the bridge and an additional 8-bar solo, the trumpet 1 range is to written F top line, and easy swing rhythms for all. It's Duke at his best for your young jazz band. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. What better way to introduce the music of Duke Ellington to your young jazzers than with this wonderfully scored arrangement by Michael Sweeney! Even at this easy level, this chart really swings and will sound great with limited rehearsal time. Your pianist gets a rare chance to shine as he or she is featured on the melody while the ensemble answers. Later, every section gets to play the melody and there's a written or ad lib solo for any saxophone. The final section starts softly with saxes alone, then builds as various layers are added. This bluesy, swinging chart is playable with as few as 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone, piano and drums, and all solos have written parts provided. This belongs in every young jazz curriculum! Recorded by Peggy Lee in 1958, this sultry swing tune went on to become her signature song and has remained a popular standard. Paul Murtha's version for young players definitely retains the "cool" factor with finger snaps, sax melody and brass punches. Brief written solos are included for alto sax and trumpet, and it's playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. This swing chart is ideal for every young jazz band as played around 132 bpm. All the ingredients are here for young jazz success: easy tempo, easy ranges, written solos for tenor and trumpet, a shout chorus, clear rhythm parts, and plenty of optional parts for expanded instrumentations to include vibes. Neal Hefti penned this wonderful chart for the great Count Basie Band, and Roy Phillippe has made it accessible for younger players without losing the verve of the original. This little swing chart begins by featuring a combo and layers other sections on until there's a full band laying down the melody and backgrounds. Written or improvised solos are traded with alto sax and trumpet following by a soft shout chorus. It will also sound full and complete with optional reduced instrumentation. The saxes do most of the heavy lifting on this easy version of the Miles Davis standard. In addition, there is a short sax soli and a written or improvised solo for trumpet.
