Cannonball Adderley made it famous, brother Nat composed it and now Terry White provides a terrific swing chart for younger jazz groups. Bob Curnow. Here is a slow, swinging, lovely, warm, relaxed chart in the style of that famous Neal Hefti swing ballad! The arrangement is subtle and easy to play, and there are not a lot of pieces by Pat Metheny that swing in this way. The arrangement suggests flugelhorns throughout, although trumpets would work just fine. There is solo space for alto saxophone and trumpet/ flugel. John Lewis (composer, pianist, and founder of the acclaimed Modern Jazz Quartet) penned Afternoon in Paris in the 1950s and it has remained a jazz standard ever since. This nicely crafted version for developing jazz ensembles opens with a small group on the head and drums on brushes. Solos for trumpet and tenor follow with suggested solos and scale/chord sheets provided, along with dynamic full ensemble statements. This original for advancing groups by Stan Kenton alumni Lennie Niehaus is sure to please players and audiences alike. The material is well developed and provides plenty of opportunity for various players and sections to share in the melodic role. Solo piano starts things off followed by the iconic trombone solo in the medium Latin section. The exciting double time swing section features the entire ensemble, then the maestoso theme returns to close things out. It's from the movie of the same name and is a tongue-in-cheek swing chart adapted from a much more difficult chart by Gordon Goodwin for his Big Phat Band. Arranged by Ralph Ford for developing players, it will be a hit with both the band and the audience. No improvised solos, just ensemble playing and some great section solis. This will be a fun chart for any performance! Highly recommended! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10071882 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 Attitude Adjustment—Larry Barton. Here's a big, solid swing-blues chart with attitude! It includes an open section for the soloists of your choice, with written suggested solos. An incredibly solid bass line really holds this chart together and gives it a feel that is distinctive and powerful! Bacon Suite Blues has it all: a strong melody, solid ensemble writing, varying dynamics and an optional open solo section with included solo sheets. There's a soft ensemble section after the solos that builds to a wonderful shout and then a trombone section soli, then more hard-driving and down home swing leading to a cool finale. This was a big hit for George Thorogood and the Destroyers, and this down n' dirty, bluesy shuffle version is the perfect vehicle for showing some attitude and flexing your band's blues muscles. With big brass hits and a melody your crowd will instantly recognize, this chart roars. The improvised solo sections are in everyone's favorite solo keys of B-flat and E-flat. This is definitely one to check out! 10881452 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 65.00 Bags' Groove (Little Big Band)—Milt Jackson/ arr. Mark Taylor. Milt Jackson's signature blues tune has become a well-known jazz standard, and Mark Taylor's arrangement makes it sound great in this six horn, little big band format.
