Horace Silver created a blues with a perfectly consistent character and structured the accompaniments and his piano solo in perfect balance. Orchestrating the piano parts from the original recording is a fairly straightforward process. Some thought goes into choosing which instruments best express the music and there's some attention paid to contrasting timbres and textures, but so much of the music already exists in Silver's piano playing, both in his solos and in his accompaniments, that the piece is already there without additional writing. It's a perfect framework that will produce a telling performance. Small Band: ATB Saxes, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Guitar, Bass, and Drums. 10757434 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . M 50.00 l El Fuego de la Tierra (The Fire of the Earth)— Erik Sherburne/arr. Bob Turner. El Fuego de la Tierra, the fire of the earth, is an exciting, high- energy samba chart for a flexible instrumentation small group. The unique scoring allows it to be tailored to available players or to get the desired sound. All players are featured at various points throughout the chart. An open solo section lets you feature your soloists and a unison soli section is followed by more development. A sample solo is included in the alto sax part along with chord changes in all the parts. A big Latin shout chorus brings it home in an impressive fashion! This dynamic work is also available in a big band format, Pepper number 10882380. 10882368 Combo (Flexible). . . . . MA 45.00
