Narrator 2: The words of the prophet Isaiah had now been
fulfilled in this ultimate act of sacrificial love: "He
was despised and rejected; a man of sorrows, and
familiar with suffering. He was pierced for our
transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; the
punishment that brought us peace was upon Him,
and by His wounds we were healed. All we like
sheep have gone astray, all of us have turned to our
own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity
of us all."
