Here's a wonderful take on the group Toto's classic rock tune from the '80s. It's solidly scored throughout and sounds amazingly like the original while remaining accessible for developing jazz bands. With nice dynamic contrasts, an uncomplicated melodic line, and a medium rock groove, this chart is one that younger players can really dig into, yet it will sound mature when performed by a more advanced group. More features include: half-note tempo of 90 bpm; written or ad lib solos for alto sax 1 and trombone 1; trumpet 1 range to written G on top of the staff; and optional parts for flute, clarinet and vibes. You guessed it, Alligator Boogaloo is a funky rock chart with a boogaloo groove played around 136 bpm. It's a simple blues with a great melody introduced by alto and trumpet. Written solos are provided for alto, tenor, trumpet, and trombone, and optional parts are included for expanded instrumentations including an optional vibes part. Possibilities for reduced instrumentations make this chart even more flexible. This easy and fun beginning rock chart will be a hit with young jazz band students. A steady beat, easy rhythms, and modest ranges provide the perfect introduction to rock style. Back Road is a bluesy, slow rocker that will have younger jazz bands begging to play it. Written solos are provided for any soloist, but a blues scale is all that is needed to get started improvising. Played at around 144 bpm, it's a well-written chart in every way with superb ensemble sections, a hip interlude that builds into a big shout chorus, written or improvised solos for trumpet and alto sax, and the lead trumpet range is to written G. Extra parts are included for optional augmented instrumentations as well as an optional vibraphone part. This chart will definitely make your band shine. Highly recommended! 10753986 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . ME 48.00 4 Big Time—Gregory Yasinitsky. Big Time is a great funk chart with a hot melody that's fused with a swinging bass line and a half-time, hip hop groove. It includes a fun saxophone soli, written or ad lib solos for tenor and trumpet, and an exciting ensemble section which grows from a whisper to a roar! Don't miss the section where the drums trade off with the ensemble. Highly recommended! 10879767 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . M 52.00 17 NEW POP CHARTS! Featuring current hits and modern standards, these will be audience and player favorites! Bad to the Bone—George Thorogood/arr. Allen Gray. This was a big hit for George Thorogood and the Destroyers, and this down n' dirty, bluesy shuffle version is the perfect vehicle for showing some attitude and flexing your band's blues muscles. With big brass hits and a melody your crowd will instantly recognize, this chart roars. The improvised solo sections are in everyone's favorite solo keys of B-flat and E-flat. Setting records for most views on YouTube and topping the pop charts in several countries, Despacito was recorded by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with rapper Daddy Yankee (and later remixed with Justin Bieber). With its infectious Latin pop style and catchy melody, here is a great sounding and effective version for jazz ensemble! 10842281 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ME 45.00 Everybody Needs Somebody to Love—arr. John Berry. This infectious, fun and rockin' tune from the '60s boasts notable recordings by Wilson Pickett, The Rolling Stones and most famously The Blues Brothers. This very easy chart is skillfully scored for all sections, requires no solos, and is playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. This breakout hit recorded by Camila Cabello helped bring Latin music to the pop charts. This arrangement for young players is easy to learn and includes sample written solos for alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, and trombone. It's also thoughtfully scored to sound great with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. 10909006 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . E 40.00 Knock on Wood—arr. Paul Murtha. Although originally recorded by Eddie Floyd in 1966, Knock on Wood has remained popular thanks to covers by artists such as Otis Redding, David Bowie, and Eric Clapton. Featuring powerful and solid scoring, this dynamic version for developing players has a brief written or ad lib solo for alto sax and is based on the swing- shuffle hit recorded by Amii Stewart in 1979. Recorded by Guns N' Roses in the 1980s, this rocker has become a classic and is often heard in TV and film.
