legacy of folk music of the British Isles. World
renowned for his choral music, John Rutter's
work for strings has become a modern classic.
This work is based on four folk songs: They Are
A-Roving; I Have a Bonnet Trimmed with Blue; O
Waly Waly (The Water Is Wide) and Dashing Away.

Edouard Lalo/arr. Todd Parrish. Firmly rooted
in the standard violin repertoire, Symphonie
Espagnole is a brilliant work that showcases
the violin's lyrical beauty and technical virtuosity
with a Spanish style. After keeping the opening
solo passage, the powerful melodies are then
passed throughout the orchestra. The first
movement is arranged here for string orchestra,
shortened and simplified for playability.
However, Lalo's original fiery masterpiece
comes through clearly. The optional timpani
part is highly recommended to achieve the most
authentic sound.
