Paraphrasing Schubert's Serenade, this work has a lovely texture and the feel and style of a German lied. With some unison sections and a supportive accompaniment, this is a great teaching piece for younger singers. 10956695 Unison/Two-Part or SA . . . . . . .2.00 L My Very Own—Susan LaBarr. Lovely melodic lines over equally lovely harmonic textures which include some cluster harmonies paired with passages about love make this a memorable work for both the singers and the audience. The flowing piano accompaniment adds much to the musical texture and timbre of the work. Highly recommended! 10805548 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.05 10805548L SATB Large Print . . . . . . . . . . . .2.05 4e Nino Precioso—arr. Rosephanye Powell. Trad- itionally, Nicaraguan mothers sang this lullaby to their children as they rocked them to sleep. This up-tempo arrangement is in the style of a Spanish dance, complete with hand percussion parts, included in the octavo. The piece is sung in Spanish, with phonetic pronunciation given below the text. It's a wonderful multicultural selection for general concert use and appropriate for the holiday season as well. 10846371 Two-Part or SA . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.25 4LNon Nobis, Domine—Franz Joseph Haydn/arr. e Geoffrey Edwards. One of the most effective ways of introducing part-singing to an ensemble is through the canon. In this concertized Haydn work, all voices sing the melody in unison at the beginning, then split into a two-part melodic canon. The Latin text and approachable Classical style create an effective training piece for developing treble ensembles that doubles as a stand-out concert selection. 10953846 Two-Part . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .1.95 10953846L Two-Part Large Print . . . . . . . . .1.95 lLNow is the Month of Maying—Carol Nicholeris. te A delightful pairing of an older text with newer musical techniques, this setting dances with rhythmic vitality and good humor and has the feel of a modern madrigal. You will not want to miss this for use as a sacred meditation in a worship service or in a concert setting as a tribute to the glory of love itself. The text was written by the composer as an homage to traditional Irish love ballads. The soloist for this piece sings the English text and should have a light and lilting vocal quality, and the style of violin playing should have the feel of traditional Irish or Scottish music. The chorus sings the Gaelic text, for which a pronunciation guide is provided. 10953636 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.60 10953636L SATB Large Print . . . . . . . . . . . .2.60 10953637 SSAA . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.60 10953637L SSAA Large Print . . . . . . . . . . . .2.60 lLOh Freedom—Pasquale Tassone. An interesting t spiritual since it was written after the Civil War and therefore after the slaves had been freed. However, as the struggles of African-Americans continued, it has become a prominent song in the march for equality, even into the 21st century. A relaxed, dignified setting with expressive phrases and some chromaticism which adds to its emotive quality. 10953335 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.05 10953335L SATB Large Print . . . . . . . . . . . .2.05 l One Voice—John Rutter. Middle school can be a difficult time in the life of a student, often filled with feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. The composer explored this topic with middle school students in a songwriting workshop, and the students discovered that they are not alone with their feelings of self-doubt; that even adults struggle with these feelings. These students also discovered that they have the ability to be strong and find inspiration from within. The music reflects these moments of discovery with rhythmic forces. There is a vulnerable honesty in this music, an honesty that will resonate with young people. 10954056 SA. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2.25 4LPamoja (Together)—Mark Burrows.
