BILLY: Of course I did. Got it right here. (reading) "Help. Crew and
passengers of S.S. Mango shipwrecked! Need rescue!" I mean,
(points to the piece of paper) there's the latitude and longitude.
Check it yourself.
SOPHIE: And what did you put in the bottle?
BILLY: What do you mean? This message right here!
EMMA: Uh, that exact one?
BILLY: (acts out what he is describing) Yeah! You write the message,
cork the bottle, throw the bottle into the ocean, then put the
message … (slowing down as he realizes) in the bottle …
EMMA: (groaning) Oh no …
(As the group watches the bottle float away, Johnny Coconut walks
on stage, curious about the people he's seeing.)
JOHNNY: You know … the proper procedure for a message in a bottle is
to put the message in the bottle before you throw it in the
water! I should know.
(Everyone is startled and turn around quickly.)
TRENT: Who are you?
JOHNNY: The name's Johnny. Johnny Coconut. I'm what ya call the
resident of this island.
MASON: Resident? You live here? On purpose?
JOHNNY: On purpose? (laughs) No. Out of no other choice! I was sailing
'round the world solo in my sailboat, when I got into a
ferocious storm! Been here ever since.
SOPHIE: How long have you been here?
JOHNNY: Well, not too sure, really. I left in 1998. Think I'll make it
home before 2000?
LOGAN: (groaning) Oh no …
(Everybody's hope visibly fades.)
