Long, lyrical phrases give the opportunity to showcase tone and blend, and the stunning harmonic texture completes the beautiful picture to perfection. This incredibly beautiful and heartrending setting of a precious text by William Sharp makes an especially effective concert closer or encore. The gorgeous harmonic structure begins with a quiet section that gradually unfolds into a full choral statement appropriate to this inspirational text. Commissioned by the St. Olaf Festival in Trondheim, Norway, Even When He Is Silent masterfully expresses the sentiment of the text - hope in times of despair. A poem by Sara Teasdale is the inspiration for this light, airy work. It appropriately conveys the springtime theme of the text, with a driving piano part that evokes the energy and wonder of new beginnings. MA 2.95 Ht Good Night, Dear Heart—Dan Forrest. This stunning piece is based on a simple poem by Robert Richardson, inscribed on the headstone of the daughter of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain), who died in her youth. Appropriate for any memorial occasion, the work is brief and understated, yet powerful. A cappella with optional piano accompaniment. It will touch every listener deeply.
