This exciting Latin dance for intermediate orchestras features approachable syncopation, catchy rhythms, and low first-finger patterns in every section of the orchestra. The exotic D minor tonality and optional percussion parts add authentic Latin flavor. A captivating concert selection! 10981242 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .47.00 H Creatures—Brian Balmages. It's great for year-round use, but would be especially scary at Halloween. The composer describes it as "a dark and sinister night full of strange happenings and ghoulish encounters." Opening with a menacing march as creatures emerge from the darkness, dissonances soon appear in upper strings, including the chance to play any pitch in the chaos! Finally the audience hears footsteps in retreat from the coming dawn. 10027353 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .45.00 10027354 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 Curse of the Rosin Eating Zombies—Richard Meyer. It had to happen! Richard Meyer's wildly successful Rosin Eating Zombies From Outer Space created an insatiable hunger for more of the same! It seems that string players (and directors) love to get a chance to: Give blood curdling screams; knock on their instruments, bow behind the bridge for that "psycho sound"; use pizzicato, tremolo, trills, make munching noises and talk like zombies! Detailed directions are given for the faint of heart. Keep string playing fun; choose this highly recommended winner! 2472802 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .56.00 l Curse of Tortuga—Tyler Arcari. During the 17th century, Tortuga was a venerable headquarters and hideout for pirates! This drama is brought to life in a mysterious and fast-paced piece for string orchestra. Young musicians and audiences will enjoy all the intrigue of swashbucklers and thieves. 11100045 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .50.00 11100046 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .7.00 The Dance of Iscariot—Kirt N. Mosier. A rhythm- ically-charged composition for students. All parts playable in first position. 2382380 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .48.00 Danse Infernale—Elliot Del Borgo. Starting off as a driving modal work, the "Infernal Dance" soon turns to a warm cantabile middle section, giving your strings a chance to show their flexibility. Del Borgo uses string sonorities such as harmonics, mutes, basic third position, and more to get the most out of your orchestra. 2474323 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .45.00 4 Danza de mi Corozon—Steven L. Rosenhaus. This music is intended to connect emotionally with players and audiences alike. This energetic work does that and makes you want to dance too! The fiery tango in D minor is both a solid teaching piece and truly a "dance of the heart." 11100047 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .50.00 11100048 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .7.00 Danza Espanola—Bob Phillips. A perfect rhythmic skill-builder, this exciting piece uses classic Spanish rhythms and the famous Andalusian chord progression found in the music of Spain, Central and South America. All sections get to play both the melody and the driving accompaniment rhythms. 10872102 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .49.00 10872103 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .8.00 Dark Adventure—Ralph Ford. It's ghostly! It's creepy! Your orchestra will love it! From the driving opening motives to the quirky gypsy-sounding theme, this is haunted-house music at its best! You can play this with either full or string orchestra, but the percussion section is really vital and should be used in both cases. This is recommended and will thrill and delight your audience! A winner! 2466837 String or Full Orchestra . . . . . .59.00 5972599 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .8.00 Double Trouble—Lauren Bernofsky. Here's a punchy teaching tune to make the key of D come to life! All the voices have fun with the edgy and rhythmic eighth note "double trouble" motif. Emphasis on accents and tight ensemble playing will make this a class favorite! 10091950 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .40.00 10091951 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 Dragon Fire—Susan H. Day. Imagine the fire- spewing, eyes-blazing, slimy-scaled mythical creature in this dramatic work! This excellent teaching piece features many techniques, including hooked bowings, slurs, lifts, accents, pizzicato, tremolo, and a few high three-finger patterns in upper strings. Written in the keys of A minor and E minor, all parts have interesting moving lines and melodies as well as wonderfully rich chordal harmonies. Sure to be a pleasing addition to any concert or festival. 10908669 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .55.00 10908670 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .8.00 4 Dynasty—Kathryn Griesinger. Hear the call of ancient ancestors in this exciting tribute to legend and legacy. Bold, heroic themes of fierce warriors and noble rulers rise through subtle pentatonic harmonies that suggest mighty Asian dynasties. Adventurous melodies in a driving 6/8 are passed to every section with a few easy accidentals, and a serene slow section features the viola section. A great teaching piece to focus on slurred string crossings in first position. 10995985 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .65.00 10995986 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .6.00 l Eat My (Rosin) Dust—Brian Balmages. This spirited, high energy work encompasses all the attitude expressed in its title! The orchestra's true personality shines as it moves between technical off- the-string passages and soaring melodies. Combine that with syncopated rhythmic ideas and one can see why the title is so fitting. As playful as the title is, this certainly is not a novelty piece. It is a technical, yet extremely playable showcase for your orchestra. 10995987 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .60.00 10995988 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .6.00 Echelon—Kathryn Griesinger. An exhilarating theme is characterized by an angular melodic motif shaped like a true military echelon, forging ahead with courage and ferocity. Heavy accents, driving momentum, and intricate fugue-like formations narrate an epic tale of noble heroism, with only a little position work in first violin and bass. 10877037 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .55.00 10877038 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 Electric Sinfonia—Lauren Bernofsky. Hop onboard with this red-hot piece that includes hints of rock music. Musicians hit the ground running as aggressive lines contrast with longer, sweeping phrases. Perfect for building confidence in your group, individual parts are quite easy to play — but when you put everything together, the group will sound sensational! 10454271 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .50.00 10454304 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 Electric Sinfonia (Festival Orchestra Version) —Lauren Bernofsky. This festival arrangement of Electric Sinfonia allows students from your entire strings program to play together! The set includes the required grade 2.5 parts along with easier grade 1 parts and a very easy grade .5 level, which uses only pizzicato. In a modal A minor, the piece has hints of rock music and a white-hot intensity that runs through the entire piece. Perfect for building confidence; the individual parts are quite easy to play, but all together as a group - sensational! 10877039 Multi-Level Orchestra . . . . . . .70.00 10877040 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .6.00 Epic Adventure—Kathryn Griesinger. A bold, exciting work for string orchestra depicting a daring escape and an epic journey. Driving accented 3/4 rhythms in A minor build tension and momentum, developing into soaring themes in major tonalities. Following the protagonist on a heroic quest, students will experience dramatic dynamics, slurs, and string crossings in familiar first position. Includes violin 3 (viola in treble clef) and alternate viola (violin 2 in alto clef) parts. 10846054 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .47.00 10846055 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .6.00 Espana Cani—Pascual Marquina Narro/arr. Kathy L. Fishburn. The definitive Spanish paso doble, arranged for intermediate string orchestra! A fiery concert feature both students and audiences will enjoy. Includes violin 3 (viola in treble clef) and alternate viola (violin 2 in alto clef) parts. 10846056 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .47.00 10846057 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .6.00 H The Evil Eye and the Hideous Heart—Alan Lee Silva. Based on the classic Edgar Allan Poe short story "The Tell-Tale Heart," this work is reminiscent of a classic Hollywood horror movie theme. The piano and optional harp and percussion parts punctuate the tension and suspense that is felt from the first note to the last. The basses act as the low, ominous threat of danger, and the upper voices represent the insanity of the main character's twisted plan. A real thriller! 10093787 String Orchestra, Percussion Optional . . . . . . . .55.00 10093788 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .7.00 Fantasia on a Theme from Thailand—Richard Meyer. This captivating work is a set of variations on the Pong Lang Dance, one of Thailand's most popular melodies. The pong lang is like a xylophone with its wooden keys suspended vertically on ropes, with the low notes on the upper end and the high notes at the bottom. The melody uses the pentatonic scale and is very simple in nature. The variations expand on fragments of the original tune in a variety of tempi and styles that make each new change thrilling! After this exploration, the original melody returns, gradually gaining speed and energy as one would hear in a traditional performance of this dance. 10015211 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .48.00 H Fantasia on an Original Theme—Joseph Phillips. This is a poignant and distinctively Irish-flavored fantasia in a cantabile style. Violists will love the opening soli introduction that is quite beautiful. A very nice piece at the intermediate level. Recorded by Michigan State University Orchestra on the CD, Teaching Music Through Performance in Orchestra Volume 1 - Pepper # 5973728. 2301364 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .48.00 5399704 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .9.00 4 First Flight—Francis J. Caravella. From its opening fanfare to its rousing conclusion, this original work captures the rapt anticipation and thrill of human flight. Whether celebrating the historic moments of the Wright brothers' achievement, recent successes of space travel, or success of student graduation - the driving 6/8 and changing melodic modes depict the adventure of a lifetime! 10981244 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .52.00 Forever Joyful!—Brian Balmages. Inspired by pure joy, this work explores uplifting and lighthearted emotions. The music has a constant rhythmic pulse that gently interacts with graceful melodic lines and countermelodies. Engaging harmonies create a complex tapestry without overtaxing any of the individual performers. 10512564 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . . .50.00 10512565 Additional Score . . . . . . . . . . . .5.00 l Gemini—George Sweet.
