PEP: [to HANDY] So?
HANDY: Okay, so I can sing. I'm still not sure that's my calling.
PEP: Just know that God will call you because you're you. Your best is good enough for God,
and it's what the world needs.
STEWARD: The world needs so much. I've been wondering about a way to raise money.
Q: Whoa! Can you say "money" in church?
STEWARD: Just did.
Q: No, I mean, the grown-ups always use words like "gifts" or "contributions" or "tithes and
offerings."
FACTOID: Technically, "tithing" means giving one tenth of what you have to the church, you
know?
ALL: We know, Factoid!
LITERALIST: It's like some people think money is a bad word or something.
THEO: But in the Bible, Jesus talks about money all the time.
WHY NOT: Why not get it out of our system, right now? [with a big crescendo] Money.
Money-Money-Money. Money!!!
WHAT IF: Feel better?
WHY NOT: [satisfied] Oh yeah.
JUSTICE: When it's used God's way, money can be a powerful tool for peace, for justice, for
change!
STEWARD: Hey! That gives me an idea! What if we collect all the spare change we can, and
we call it – Change for the Sake of Change.
PEP: Cool name. Raising money might be your calling.
Q: One question – the change we collect, what is it supposed to…um…change?
STEWARD: I'm not sure. The world needs so much. What if we all decide together? In the
meantime, I'll follow my calling and go find some bins for collecting the change. [exits]
HANDY: I'll come help. [exits with STEWARD]
Q:
So, what does everyone think? What does the world need?
