45 Acting out the story of "The Lions' Den" … Intro Daniel is being led around the stage by two king's helpers. They lead him around the other characters, who move out of the center of the stage. The game players and Abdi move to the side of the stage to watch. Daniel is led to the center of the stage and left alone with his hands bound. Verse 1 and Reading While Daniel stands alone, the youngest choir kids enter as a parade of "lions." They make their way to Daniel and surround him, standing still, growling and pawing the air. Verse 2 Daniel remains center stage as the lions begin to slowly circle him, growling and pawing the air. The Babylonians gather more closely around Daniel and the lions to watch. Bridge King Darius enters. Can be the same kingly robes but a different beard. Instead of a crown he wears a night cap and carries a teddy bear under one arm. He paces the side of the stage, back and forth, ringing his hands and yawning. Reading During the reading King Darius approaches Daniel and the lions. He mimes shouting to Daniel with hands cupped around his mouth, and Daniel mimes shouting back. The lions have stopped prowling, but continue to growl and paw at the air. Chorus, Bridge, and Final Chorus Daniel, the lions, the king, his helpers, all the Babylonians, and the game players and Abdi join in the choreography. For Preview Only
