COLORS OF GRACE - SATB 3 To perform this work, you will need nine people in addition to your choir. Each anthem in this work portrays a lesson to be learned from the example of Christ and is visually represented by a colored cloth and appropriate symbol. Cut each cloth long enough to drape over an adult's outstretched arms (approximately four feet in length, 18 inches to 2 feet wide.) During the instrumental prologue to Colors of Grace, and before the narration begins, four individuals enter the s anctuary, placing the first three symbols and cloths (representative of yokes) on three separate pedestals/tables, or arranging them on the same altar or table at the front of the worship space. Each cloth should be arranged beside its symbol, not beneath it. The final symbol, a wooden cross, is the focal point and should be placed in a prominent position. Drape its crossbeams with the black cloth. You may desire to spotlight each symbol/cloth during the anthem it represents. A brief restatement of "Take My Yoke Upon You" follows each anthem. During these restatements, one individual takes the appropriate cloth from beside its symbol and places it over the outstretched arms of a different individual. The person with the cloth will then be seated, perhaps in a designated, reserved front row. The next two pe ople will likewise bear their cloths and be seated. The final cloth, which is black, will be taken from the cross as a "body" and borne by the person who has been distributing the cloths, and five other individuals, who will hold it outstretched (horizontally and lengthwise), three on each long side, in the fashion of pallbearers. Following the last narration, as the solo drum plays, the first three individuals rise an d carry their cloths on outstretched arms down the aisle toward the sanctuary's exit, one behind the other. The final six individuals will follow them, bearing the black cloth between them. PERFORMANCE NOTES For Preview Only
