E 40.00 H Red Clay—Freddie Hubbard/arr. Mike Kamuf. A gem of a chart, here's Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay arranged for developing jazz bands. Characteristically, it's a straight-eighths groove at 132 bpm with written or ad lib solos for tenor sax and trumpet 2. A more subtle and quieter interlude adds variety and interest, and a unique and effective rhythm section break featuring the bassist leads to the return of the head. The trumpet 1 range is to written G on top of the staff and a nice shout chorus further adds to the fun. Playable with optional expanded instrumentations. A great jazz standard superbly arranged! 10513883 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 48.00 Running with Scissors—Gordon Goodwin. Running with Scissors is a very hip, funky groove chart played around 168 bpm. It's loaded with classic Gordon Goodwin flair, plus sample solos are provided for C instruments, E-flat alto or bari saxes, B-flat tenor, B-flat trumpet, and trombone. It begins as a nice, quiet funk groove, develops, and has great textural variation between the rhythm section and horns. The lead trumpet range is to written high C with an optional D. Included is an auxiliary percussion part and optional parts for flute and vibes. More accessible than many Gordon Goodwin charts, your band and its audiences will totally enjoy this one. Highly recommended! 10867429 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 52.00 e Shake a Tail Feather—arr. John Wasson. This 1963 funky classic has been covered by countless artists but is probably best remembered from Ray Charles' performance in the 1980 film "The Blues Brothers." This chart is arranged here for developing jazz bands with plenty of drive and energy. Your alto and tenor saxes get to show off with easy solos. 10960666 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 45.00 Sign Me Up!—Mike Kamuf. This funky original has all the ingredients for your jazz band to succeed. It's an up-tempo rocker with a super melody played at around 132 bpm. There are written or improvised solos for trombone and alto sax and the bass line is one that younger players will enjoy. Additional features include a lead trumpet range to written G on top of the staff, a cool a cappella stop- time section that goes into a big shout chorus, followed by a brief drum solo. Optional parts are included for flute, clarinet and vibes. Sign us up for this highly recommended chart! 10867422 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 48.00 e Slim Chickens—Kris Berg. Here's Kris Berg's chicken chart for 2019! Slim Chickens is a melodic funk chart over a nice progression and it's accessible for developing groups with the lead trumpet range going to written G top staff. There are written suggested solos for tenor sax 1 and trombone 1 with very cool backgrounds supporting the soloists. It cooks at around 148 bpm with some nice bari sax licks, a sax soli, and full-sounding ensemble sections. Nothing slim here, it's a great chart, and it's highly recommended! 10997196 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 48.00 e Sneaky Pete—Ric Flauding/arr. Paul Baker. This funky horn-driven chart weaves in and out of the boundaries with winding chromatic lines and high- energy accompaniment. The features include a solid rhythm section pulse, ample full ensemble scoring, and effective dynamic contrasts. With satisfying ensemble backgrounds, the solo space is for tenor sax, trombone, and guitar, and the drums get several smaller opportunities, too. Written brass ranges: trumpet to high C and trombone to G. Sneaky Pete never lets up! 10999411 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 55.00 e Soul Proprietor—Ellen Rowe. Ellen Rowe's Soul Proprietor is a gospel rocker with a straight-eighth feel. The chart rocks quietly and gradually builds in intensity to the written or improvised solo space for any saxophone, any rhythm section player, or any brass player. Do not miss the saxophone section soli without the rhythm section that materializes after the solos. Then it's back to the recap and a surprise ending. With its varied textures, strong melody and happy attitude, this chart is highly recommended! 10999974 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 52.00 H Watermelon Man—Herbie Hancock/arr. Mike Kamuf. Oh yeah! This is a crowd pleaser and a band pleaser... a win-win! Fun, funky, hip, groovy — call it what you want, this chart is excellent in every way... and if you have a decent bari player, he or she will really love this one. There are written solos for alto and tenor sax, a stop-time without rhythm section for the saxes, a fantastic interlude section, a monster shout chorus, and some short drum fills... what's not to like!? Very highly recommended! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10071893 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 48.00 He Whiplash—Hank Levy/arr. Erik Morales. Featured in the 2014 movie "Whiplash," depicting the relationship between an ambitious student musician and an abusive, yet respected instructor, this chart is a super-exciting work in 7/4 composed by Hank Levy and arranged by Erik Morales. Don't be intimidated by the meter... it's challenging, but after a few minutes it feels quite natural and the students will totally groove on it. The melody is stated by 2nd trumpet and 1st alto with solo space for both on easy chord changes. Articulation is critical and the rhythm section may want to spend some quality time together. The lead trumpet range is to written D above the staff. This is a unique but very desirable chart to have in your library. You won't regret playing Whiplash! 10068794 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 60.00 " This is the best music company I have Ever used!!!!" —Anonymous, South Amherst, OH Go to cart
