A PRAYER FOR PEACE
(Narration begins on cue at m. 42)
NARRATOR: Centuries before the birth of Christ, the prophet Isaiah
foretold his coming. He said "a child will be born, a son will be given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be
called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of
Peace." Does the world long for anything more than it longs for peace?
LET US ADORE HIM (Narration TACET)
BRING US HEAVENLY PEACE
(Narration begins with music)
NARRATOR: Of the promised Messiah, Isaiah wrote, "Here is my
servant, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him,
and he will bring justice to the nations. He will not falter or be discour-
aged till he establishes justice on earth. In his teaching, the lands will
put their hope." (Isaiah 42:1-4)
IN ROYAL DAVID'S CITY
(Narration begins on cue at m. 2)
NARRATOR: In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census
should be taken, and everyone went to their own town to register. So Joseph
went to Bethlehem to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him
and was expecting a child. While they were there, she gave birth to her firstborn,
a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was
no room for them at the inn. (from Luke 2)
