l Child of Wonder (from "The Sacred Veil")—
Eric Whitacre. The final movement of "The Sacred
Veil", a twelve-movement work written with poet
Charles Anthony Silvestri that chronicles the rich life
of Tony and his late wife Julie, this plaintive piece
serves as a benediction and farewell. Opening in
divisi a cappella harmonies, the piano enters with
a flowing motive to underscore the text "Turn your
silvered sail toward the light ... stretched on ocean
waves of endless foam, welcome home, my child,
welcome home."

Count the Stars—Andy Beck.
A poignant original English text combined with
Latin phrases from the Requiem Mass lays the
foundation for this tender song of remembrance.
Deeply emotive musically, with exquisite lyricism,
this piece was commissioned by the classmates of a
high school student who passed away to honor his
memory. Contemporary cluster chords, beautifully
sculpted phrases, and expressive dynamics leave
the listener with a sense of awe and wonder.

A beautiful, emotionally evocative tribute to the
power of music and teaching, this piece for
advanced treble ensemble with cello obbligato
features lovely harmonic motion with a modern
sensibility. Unexpected shifts between major and
minor, unresolved cadences, and a section with
layered, overlapping voices lead to a simple unison

Tyler Clementi put a face on the consequences of
cruelty. Through the Tyler Clementi Foundation,
tens of thousands of youth and adults have been
inspired to speak out and stand up in the face of
bullying, harassment and humiliation across the
globe. This novel work, with its syncopated rhythms,
pop harmonies, and positive text with a message of
empowerment, is a powerful way for singers to take

L A Lullaby—Ryan Murphy.
The poetry of Eugene Field is captured beautifully in
this original work. The words of the lullaby speak both
to a child falling asleep and to a child who "does not
hear his mother's song." The lilting triple meter and
the movement of the piano accompaniment imitate
rocking. Add the optional strings for a lush effect.
"And as I sing, my sweet, to you, oh, would
the lullaby I sing - the same sweet lullaby he knew
while slumbering on this bosom too - were borne
to him on angel's wing! So hushaby - O hushaby."
